I have done 5 discs now.... Pretty Woman, One Hour Photo and Blue Crush.... they all backedup perfectly.... quality from beginning to end is original quality... very pleased to say the least... the other 2 discs are multi-part discs... One is Lonesome Dove with parts One and Two on a disc... it would do part One just fine, but I can't get it to pickup part 2. The other multi-part disc I tried is a Star Trek original series disc with 2 episodes on it.... again.. it will backup the first one just fine, but will not find the second. XPress holds great promise....

I must say that it works great for me as well! I backed up The Osbournes and Jackass flawlessly!

I have done a few backups with xpress now and have had no problems. I did the walk through at the site for the beta testers so you guys got the results of them. I do however have a sugestion. That is to maybe give us a bit of control in the options as to what size the final outcome for the movie should be. The reason for this is there is a stress factor that comes into play with some disks and not others. So by the final outcome size being set at max for a blank with the stressed disks that will cause the issue that orgazmo has. Where he could stop that problem with the ability to go into the options drop down and say for instance select the size to be 4300 instead 4474 or even maybe selecting like 4400 for some disks. I have ran into this in the past with compresing and making the disk size smaler does fix the problem.

Like I said if you would rather suggestions be sent to the e-mail addy let me know. I tried to send you a pm with this info but still getting error when try to send it.

You are not eligible for the free download at this time.
Please check back later for more details.

I have backed up 4 movies with XPRESS and I can not tell the difference between the DVDX copy and the XPRESS copy. Other then the movie only being copied without the extras, the backups are the same.

The only problem I had was a sound issue that was corrected with an update.

Great job so far!

OK, I'm now ONE of those people that the program does not work for. This is happening on 1.5.2 as well as dvdexpress 2.0 When the burn almost gets to the end, past 90 percent, the screen goes black as if I had the screen saver on (but I don't). Then when I press any key, the program resumes but says it is canceling the burn. Using WIN XP SP1, 700+ meg RAM. (Was trying to copy Red Dragon) The earlier versions of DVDxcopy worked for me.

Thanks 321qa, your answer was correct, simple fix. Program seems to work great, very impressed!

Used Xpress to copy 16 of my DVDs. Successful copies with all but 2. These were anime's and I believe the problems are due to the serialized nature of these compiled 25-30min pgms. Causes the same problems akin to the episodic copy attempts. All n all Mr Moore, you gave me more than my posted request asked for, i.e. Xpress functions as should (all features), copies to a single disc and the "Bonus", does it in less than (my experience) 44-49min total time to completion of all of my successful copies. Congratulations as well as KUDOS to you and your staff for a job well done.

Second generation beta DVDXPRESS Copy worked very well for me. It is simple to use & fast. Movies played on DELL PC & on all my DVD players including Panasonic, APEX, PS2 & X-BOX. Quality wise I can detect no difference on my 50 inch projection TV. No menu's so you have to skip chapters or fast forward to move around.

Sorry for the stupid question (I know, I know, there are no stupid questions, just a lot of inquisitive idiots) but can someone please confirm I can run BOTH DVDXpress and DVDXCopy on my computer?
Thanks.

Yes both runs with no problems on same comp. When platinum is released it should run with other 2 on there as well.

My first couple of installs of XPRESS I ran into some major conflicting issuses. While I could get xpress to burn sucessful, almost all other apps were dead. Every app resulted in "xxxx encounter a problem and needs to close" I could not even shutdown or restart the computer. I finally used "ENDITALL" to shutdown abosulty everything before installing express and this seemed to do the trick. The first movie "Gladitor" had no audio, that issuse was address in the 2nd beta release and work perfectly after on the second try. Since then I've burned 4 movies, all with no problems and all with exception video quality. I have a pro. scan dvd and hdtv and did notice some slight arifacts, but not enough to not use express if I wanted/needed a one disc backup. One thing I did notice was there is no option too choose DTS soundtrack when one is avaiable. Ripping & compressing may be a little slower than DXC's just ripping time [average about 20 min for express} but the time is made up in just having to burn one disc. Overall this seems to be a great product and appears to work flawlessly.

Here is one huge problem I forgot: Backups made take significantly more time while I am trying to decide which program to use, DXC or DXCE

drb: In order to choose DTS, select Ask Me as the default Audio Language. When you press start you will be given the option of the Audio languages available and if DTS is available, you will be able to choose it.

Also, the reading of the DVD is much quicker in XPRESS than DXC. However, you must understand that transcoding is going on at the same time, so even though it may seem slower, it is actually much faster as it is compressing the entire movie at the same time.

Cheers!

I'm working on some other stuff currently, so I can't test again, but the first two beta's that I tested would not properly copy Top Gun. It copied and played, but copied the Full Screen edition of the movie, rather than the Widescreen version which was what I was looking to backup.

I'll try it again later tonite if time allows, and report back here.

So far I have backed up The Transpoter, The Truth About Charlie and Friday After Next with Express. Seem to work great on my Xbox PS2 and all my Sony set tops tops.

Subtitles not working.

I did the movie Trading Places the subtitles would not play at all.

They play from the original but not the copy.

Also can we get an option to choose more than 1 subtitle. I have found in the past that choosing just one subtitle causes problems a DVD could have CC and reg Subtitles and in some cases both are neeeded.

PS I am also bilingual and would like to be able to choose more than 1 subtitle.

whompus:

I feel pretty sure Prez made both DXC and EXPRESS compatible because he pointed out in one of his posts that the flexiblity would be there for those who wanted the movie + all of the features or just the movie on a single disk.

However, I have a feeling that this concern will be moot when Platinum is released because I think these two functions will be incorporated into Platinum as well as other user selectable options.

nyplayer - I think what you are expecting is what will come in the Platinum edition of the s/w.

I take it as Xpress is designed to make a copy of the "movie only" with one audio track and possibly one captions track but which fits on one disc.

The original product "DVD X Copy" will allow for making full copies of originals, possibly on 2 discs if necessary (and copy episodics), including the original menus and all special materials (unless, in some cases, you make a backup on one disc without menus and special features).

The Platinum Edition is intended to allow for complete control over what will and won't be included in the copy, including multiple audio tracks (selectable) and/or multiple captions and other features like that.

Of course, 321 could clear this all up for us with a post soon :-)

Confirmed again, Top Gun copies, but in Full Screen mode, not Wide Screen, even though I selected the option for Wide Screen and made it a default choice.

I agree completly. When platinum is released there will probably be no need for all 3. I do still think however that there will be no problem with runing all 3 on one system if someone wants to. For whatever reason that choice could be made. I personaly have found nothing that keeps any 321 software from runing on my system and I do love to install and test then uninstall most anything that sounds usefull. Have been with 321 stuff for a good while and no problems with any of it to date.
