“You can use DVD neXt COPY to make a backup copy of personally authored DVDs
or non protected movies. Many commercial movies are protected. Not all
movies are protected. Unfortunately, current interpretation of laws in some
countries, including the US, prohibits distribution of software that has the
ability to copy commercial movies. In order to backup DVD movies which are
protected, an additional file is required.

May people live outside the United States, and the laws in other countries
are not the same as those in the U.S. If you live in a country where you are
allowed to freely use available DVD software you can download this plugin
and use it for purposes permitted in your country.

If you live in the United States, please understand that the Digital
Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) passed in 1998 does not expressly prohibit
consumers from making backup copies of digital works - only the sale &
distribution of tools that circumvent copy prevention technologies.

SUPERVISOR 5 FROM DVDNEXTCOPY REQUESTED FEEDBACK TO BE SENT ON THE NEW SOFTWARE.IT CAN BE SUMMED UP IN ONE WORD GREAT!!!YOU GOT THE SONY DECODING DOWN AND
REDUCED COMPUTER POWER ON THE BURN.THE RIPPING PROCESSES STILL
TAKE 95-100% POWER,BUT,HOWEVER,THE BURN IS REDUCED FROM 95-100%
FROM YOUR PREVIOUS SOFTWARE TO 35-40%.THIS ALLOWS FOR MORE COMPUTER USUAGE DURING BURN.
JUST A SLIGHT CLITCH.IF THE DEFAULT COPYING FOLDER IS "DVDNEXTCOPY" AND IT IS DELEATED FROM THE HARD DRIVE,BEFORE THE COPYING PROCESS,THE SOFTWARE WILL NOT RECREATE THE FOLDER,EVEN AFTER CLOSING AND OPENING THE SOFTWARE.THIS RESULTS IN AN ERROR,IN WHICH THE SOFTWARE CLOSES AND WINDOWS XP GENERATES AN ERROR REPORT TO SEND TO MICROSFOFT.THIS IS ELIMINATED BY RESTORING THE "DVDNEXTCOPY" FOLDER.
ALSO NOTICED THE PREVIEW FUNCTION DOES NOT WORK ON THE DUAL
LAYER BURN.IT COMES ON AUTOMATICALLY IN THE 4.7 MODE.
ALSO NOTICED THE RESULTING DVD WILL ONLY PLAY ON OTHER DVD PLAYERS EQUIPPED WITH A BURNER.IT APPEARS IT MIGHT BE RELATED TO THE EXTRA LARGE SIZE OF THE ORIGINAL.IT REQUIRES
SCHRINKAGE OF THE MOVIE ALSO TO FIT ON THE 4.7GIG DISC.PREVIOUS DVD RELEASES WERE SMALL ENOUGH TO KEEP THE SIZE OF THE MOVIE THE SAME WHILE SHRINKING THE "EXTRAS".

I've installed the latest version of DVD neXt Copy v1.0.1 as the 15 day trial. The website states that it supports all media, but yet it refuses to burn a DVD-R DL on a Sony DRU-810A v1.0d. Any assistance would help. Thanks.

I have noticed one thing after burning several disks and I am not sure if it's software or what:

When you fast forward/reverse a disk burned with DVDneXtCOPY, it does not show the "scenes" as they flash by, as it does with a commercial disk or even one nburned under the old DVDXCOPY Xpress

I haver tried this with several players and all result in the same, as it forwards, the "scene" freezes, the counter advances and when you go to normal play, it has moved

More annoying than a problem

But again, it has functioned as advertised and I appreciate that

Additional observations to earlier comment concerning fast forward/rewind:

Burned another disk, using DVDXCOPY (on another computer) and DVDneXtCOPY on regular computer Ran both disks on same DVD players

DVDXCOPY= normal FF and RW in all speeds (2x, 4x, 8x, etc)
DVDneXtCOPY = FF in 2x only, anytthing higher, no movement, no RW

Perhaps a setting that I am missing. Nothing addressing this in the manual
I did report this problem to the support page

I think I resolved the circular error. Tried another disc last evening and it ran fine. I think the discs that I was receiving the circular errors on had too many scratches and the player could not read it!

I also have a problem with the fast forward. I can go 2x but no faster. Does the same on single and dual layer disk using verbatim

Just tested out the fast forward problem, burned to a DVD+RW and had no problem with fast forwarding it. In everyone of the fast forward speeds I could still view the movie as it fast forwarded. This was done in Windows 2000.

Tested the fast forward in XP 2X works fine, 4X I start to get blocky pixels all the way up to second fastest speed. Fastest speed it will freeze up (the picture)in about 10 seconds, but it is still fast forwarding but with a frozen picture.

i know it will not back up chicken little and Lady and the tramp and a couple more titles,

and the fast forward is a known issue.and the burned disks are having problem playing on a couple players, also you can not split a dvd9 to two dvd5's.
and the program will not burn using win-2000 it will rip..

also the program can not burn from any other folder,it must be directed to the DVD neXt COPY default folder.

this program needs a update, very bad...

The free DVDnextCopy download is not working for me. When trying to copy a DVD I receive "The maximun number of secrets that may be stored in a single system has been exceeded". I have tried several different movies, with same result.

Any idea's why this is occurring? I'm running Win2k, and have re-installed DVDnextCopy several times with same results.

Thanks!

A few comments on this proggie. First of all, it's buggy.

- Crashed several times when I tried to delete projects from the Projects window (although after I restarted the comp it didn't crash any more).

- Seems to report wildly incorrect sizes for some of the tracks.

- Does not tell you the total size of selected tracks, and whether compression will be used (more on that later).

- Preview didn't work on the disk that I tried. I had no trouble playing the tracks with a simple media player, so I don't know why it's such a problem.

- But the kicker is that it completely ignores my selection! The total size of the tracks on the disk was more than would fit on a DVD-R, but I didn't want to copy some of the extras - so I deselected them. By my calculation, it should've been able to copy all selected tracks without compressing them. (Just in case, I selected maximum quality in the preferences, thinking that might prompt it to avoid recoding when possible.) Doesn't matter - it copies EVERYTHING, including the tracks that I deselected, and of course it compresses all the tracks. I tried this twice, thinking that perhaps I made a mistake. Nope - the same thing every time. It doesn't matter at all what I select - it just copies everything.

Unbelievable crap.
