Nickito21,
I posted a reply to you earlier on the same subject, but maybe you missed it..

Use the search feature and search for “Episodic”.
You’ll find a lot of info on the subject.

The problem that you are having is widely posted about on this forum.

It is the episodic problem that you will find with many DVDs comprised of different episodes.

Initially DXC did not support episodics, and was designed to work only on regular DVDs, but due to many customers asking for it, we decided to try and add the episodic support. It is something that we kind of struggled over supporting though due to the problems that could arise.

This feature may never be able to be perfect due to the number of different ways that Movie Companies make the disks, but we will continue to try.

Wierd problem in trying to backup October Sky - Collector's Condition. Everything appears to work fine through the burn process; I put the burned DVD into one of several DVD players and the DVDX Copy screen is displayed then the Warning screen of the movie itself then a distorted sound and picture start. I just upgraded to 1.5.2 since 1.4.1 would not work successfully - after the DVDX Copy Screen and the Warning Screen appeared, the screen that appears before you insert the DVD would appear.
Has anyone had problems with this particular movie?

wildthang - when I saw your post this morning I grabbed The Transporter and burned it with Gear on my HP200i to a Memorex DVD+RW and tried it in my Toshiba SD4700, which can be a little picky, and it played fine. Then I burned it again, using Nero (latest update) straight to a Ritek +R and tried it in my Toshiba 4700, Samsung V2000, and Pioneer, 343. Played perfectly.
Until DXC release 1.4.1 I NEVER had success with Nero.
I know this info doesn't help your particular problem, but did want you to know that, for me, 1.5.2 with Nero or Gear backs up that movie just fine.

AlterEcho,
What burner do you have again?
I think you may have told me a while ago, but I forgot what it was..

I use Sony +/-RW with most of my drives without any problem. In fact when I need to use an RW, I have run into a few problems with Memorex DVD-RW, but I like their DVD+R a lot.

With my Tritton (Ricoh) 5125, I mainly use Verbatim or Maxell +R media, and I stick with Sony for the +/-RW.

<AlterEcho Wrote>
I have the newest version of Nero, 5.5.10.20. I also have the most recent firmware on my burner. About two versions back, on Nero, it was fine burning DVD-RW. But somewhere between the updates to DVDXCopy and NERO I have lost that functionality.
One thing I have not tried is using different media. Could you suggest a good media for DVD-RW? "

StarshipS,
What happens when you install and try to run V1.5.2?

Do you get any error messages? If so, what do they say?

<StarshipS Wrote>
"Well! After many of tries I am back at 1.4.1. I could not get DVDXCOPY Gear to burn anymore than 1X with both 1.5 or 1.5.2. I decided to just put back 1.4.1 since I have no problems burning at higher speeds and play back in all my players. I will try the next version, 321 Studios has a very good product!!!"

zawalis,
I have seen posts very similar to this last one of yours many times, they do not alarm me any longer. I look of it as more of a chance to show someone that the software DOES work, if you want it to, and are willing to help figure out what is happening.

The fact is that the infinite number of different system configurations cause most of the problems that we encounter with the software.

If you have a system configuration that doesn't allow you to use DXC, the choices you have are to:

1) Get mad and throw flames
2) Get a refund
3) Work with 321 Studios and all of the very knowledgeable people on this forum to figure out where the problem is, and fix it.

<zawalis wrote>
"Is it just me or are we in the same friggin boat we were with 1.5? Compatability has been comprimised and I refuse to blame my operating system, my set top player, my burner, or my media. It's 321's BUSINESS to make all these variables non-issues."

laqbn,
Please take a few screenshots of the programs in your "Add/Remove Programs" window, and send them to bugs@dvdxcopy.com.

This will help us track down what is causing the error.

To take screenshots:
Alt+PrintScrn will take a screenshot of the active window.

Ctrl+PrintScrn will take a screenshot of the entire screen. (everything showing on your monitor)

<laqbn wrote>
"well i'm still getting a runtime 1337 error with 1.5.2 like 1.5. 1.41 still works fine, but i can't even launch the newer vers.
i am getting a Run Time error when i try to launch vers 1.5/1.5.2 of DVD X Copy. It says a conflicting application is running and gives me error code 1337. This did not happen with vers 1.4 of DVD X copy. I removed the old version through control panels before i loaded 1.5./1.5.2"

Bushhed,
Are these new disks?
What is the brand of disk?

Usually that error message pertains to the disks that you are using.

All recordable disks have a section called the Power Calibration area. That is the area where the laser calibrates itself to that particular type of disk.

The Power Calibration area tells the drive what type of disk it is, what speed the disk is capable of, and then sets the laser to use that disk.

If the laser can not read that area correctly, it will not be able to use the disk.

Since buying XCopy I have updated to 1.4.1, 1.5 and 1.5.2 I have been getting an Optical Calibration Error w/1.5.2 I never got this error before that. Can someone please tell me what could be causing this and if there is any solution."

To all who experiance split issues:

nickicap has been spending a lot of time with Mr. Moore and Derrow about his issue. Yesterday he got an email from Derrow that explained the problem in such a way that I no longer think its an issue. I now understand completely why DXC sometimes does not split at the exact chapter point.

nickicap:
I hope I wasn't out-of-line for that post, but I want everyone to know that at least I feel much better about this than I did 3-4 days ago.

I also did not disclose what Derrow said, I don't know if it was "privileged" or not. If its not, could you tell them what you told me? And if it is then I'm sorry for throwing a teaser out there.
They can have my DXC when they pry it from my cold, dead, fingers.

They work great & play in my Sony players.

I use Gear.

My set up is a Gateway 500 series P4 2.4 Gig 1 gig of ram, 80 gig hardrive, HLDS DVD-RAM/-R/-RW/CD-RW Rambo 2 Drive R0 & a 16X DVD-ROM drive.
. I also unistalled direct CD as it had a conflict with DVDXCOPY. I use 2X Ritek Media.

StarshipS,
What happens when you install and try to run V1.5.2?
<reply>
It works fine except for the fact, it only burns at 1X using gear. If I use Nero it burns at 2X, but will not play in stand alone players. Players are Toshiba 3805 & 4205.

Do you get any error messages? If so, what do they say?
<relpy>
No Errors.

321 Q/A
I love this program,I am not as gifted as most of the people that are on this thread,I don't understand most of the PC lingo,I was Also taught that no question is to dumb to ask if you don't know the answer,why should we try to change things in our PC's when other versions worked almost perfect,I am refering to 1.52,why does 1.5 or 1.41 work and not 1.52 without going nuts on trying to change this or that to get it to work.
again I AM GREATFUL FOR 321 STUDIO'S FOR THIS PROGRAM

dpsmith - GREAT attitude. As far as changing programs, it's been reported over and over on this forum that unless there is a specific reason to change you probably "should" leave well enough alone. I suspect, however, that there will be significant enough changes made to future releases of DXC that will warrant the upgrading for a number of folks.

Ireland if you're still around I tried to do a complete copy this morning after I did the system restore but now it says can't find burner copy will be cancelled. I have a sony dru500a and I burned something else on it this morning (not using DVDXCOPY) so I know it works. Any suggestions? I installed 1.5.2 after I did the system restore on ME.

Both computers were windows 2000-spi.
This to put to rest to longer copy and burn times reported on ver-1.52!
I ran a test with a hp-200j burner and a lite-on 166s.(media used-2.4 dvd+rw)
Name of movie disk-1.(RINGS)
I made sure both copyed movie to hard drive first.
The programs i used to do the test:
Easy dvd cd creator-6,and Dvdxcopy.
Dvdxcopy,copy time (7.4min)
Dvdxcopy,burn time (23.4min)

Easy-6 copy time-(7.2min)at 10.1x 13.6mb/s
Easy-6 burn time-(23.1min)at avg.2.6x 3.4 mb/s

NOTE-I also ran same test on another computer useing a sony DRX-500UL BURNER but only the
dvdxcopy was useing ver-1.41.(lite-on 166s)
The copy and burn test was the same on both computers.

I feel you pain with regard to compatibility issues. I've been moving from burner to burner and player to player. The funny thing is the only device that seems to play everything is my kid's Playstation 2. I have a batch of what I thought were bad media and even those play through on that. Have a bunch of +Rs that are now not working on either my Sony or Toshiba but the PS/2 runs right through'em. I am convinced by that fact that these issues are strictly device firmware and perhaps laser sensitivity issues. Logic tells me if a disc plays ANYWHERE well, then the disc is good. Now, you can still argue that it is up to 321 to make the burns more compatible, but I don't see how they can accomplish that with the gazillion variables involved. This is very frustrating. If only a brn would fail or report some kind of issue to make you feel confident that if a burn completes it will in fact play properly.

I've dicovered a lot of bad discs among my Verbatim +R burns. I'm not vertain if these were burned with 1.3, 1.3.1 or later. Have you had good success with Verbatims?

dengar and/or nickicap,
1.5.2 is working perfect for me so far. The only thing I haven't really tested was the chapter split issue.

dengar said "nickicap has been spending a lot of time with Mr. Moore and Derrow about his issue. Yesterday he got an email from Derrow that explained the problem in such a way that I no longer think its an issue. I was going to test this out thoroughly this weekend. Could you guys share this info?
