Why is memorex getting rid off their media so cheap lately? every store that has a special on media, its memorex... after I did some studying on what company uses what media... here it goes... all of the following is for +R 4x media...
Memorex
TDK
Ricoh
Verbatim
Phillips
All of those are the same manufacture, same quality just different labels on them. they are all made by Ricoh. So if you have to choose from those choices, it doesn't matter since they are all the same... good luck everyone.
My Specs:
P4 2.2 (400MHz. FSB)
1GB PC 266
2-40GB Hard Drive on a Raid 1 *as boot volume*
1-60GB Hard Drive*as secondoray/storage volume*
ATI Radeon AIW-8500DV

Speaking of the Memorex 4x +R's, Office Depot has the 2 for 1 coupon (Exp 9/13) up online. Use with the $15.00 off $50.00 coupon (Exp 9/18). Total should be $44.87 + tax for 50 (0.90 + tax ea.)
Add item 934363 to cart, Qty 2
Enter coupon ID: 65002636 - Buy one, get one free
Enter coupon ID: 15863697 or 10853472 - $15.00 off $50.00
Select in-store pick up to avoid ship (under 50.00).
Like the Tha187um noted, the Memorex 4x +R's are Ricoh.
The 25 pack -R's are also available for the same price - item 936109. I believe these are 2x and mfg'd by CMC. Not 100% on that though, so if anyone picks these up, please post if you find out differently.
Security,
Haven't D/L Plat. yet, how is it working for you? I'm still using Xpress 2.5.2. (it's been very solid for me) I'll probably make a disk image this weekend then take the plunge.

I ordered the Memorex today but the coupon codes would not work online. I had to call their 800 number to place the order and they couldn't get the coupon code to work either. They finally ended up overriding their system and I did get the 1 free. I also was able to use the $15 coupon for orders over $50. I got the free delivery because I added the Memorex CD-R's 10 pack with 1 free for $8.87. Should get them tomorrow. Did anyone else have a problem with the coupon codes not being accepted?

elfstone,
I couldn't get the 2 for 1 coupon to take last night, but just entered an order for the +R's into my cart about 25 min ago. before I posted. It deducted both coupons at the checkout screen.
I didn't hit the final Place Order button, yet though. Did your order get that far earlier or did it reject after you hit Place Order?
Usually, if I get to the final confimation screen, the order ends up going through.

The OfficeDepot 2-for-1 deal and $15 off $50 is for "B&M" - a.k.a. Brick and Mortar. You have to physically walk into a store and buy the media to be able to stack both coupons on the purchase. Some on Fatwallet.com are having luck ordering online then calling OD and convincing a Customer Service Rep apply both codes to their purchase.

RWG,
The circular shows available in-store, online and via delivery on the 2 for 1 deal. It didn't take last night, so I figured they just hadn't got the coupon code set up for online use yet.
Odd thing is though, I've used the $15.00 off $50.00 twice online last week with no problems on the Verbatim deal. And this time, I got through to the confimation screen as well.
Maybe I'm doing something differently? I usually select in-store pickup, however, I make the payment online by credit card, so I can just walk in and pick up.
I was debating whether to pick up some more media this week. If I put the final order through, I'll post my results.

abell44, thanks for the info... Im loaded with media right now (Memorex +R) which I got for $35 for the 25 Pack which is a bit more than what you just posted. I tried it anyways and I was able to get the buy 1 get 1 free deal, but coupon 15861397 for the $15 off is not being picked up... anyhow, like I said, Im loaded with +R media so I wouldn't mind stacking up on -R media, but guess what, when I add the item to the cart, it says this item is not available in your are, for God's sakes, this is an online purchase im making, not a store pick up lol :) but oh well, go figure, I live in Miami, so its not like a small town in the middle of no where... oh well, thanks for the valid info...
P.S. where does everyone gets this info from? I would like to help out from time to time as well... I didn't believe on those coupon site until I got one for my Dru500a last year, from $325 MSRP I ended up paying $245 already shipped :)

Sorry guys..... I just looked over the the code for the 15.00 off 50.00 in my original post and had typo'd it. Should be 15863697. I edited it and corrected. Good luck!
As far as some of the deal sites, here's a list of some:

I was able to place an order for the 25pk Memorex +R's online (for delivery) and the 2 for 1 coupon worked. I even tested 4 packs and it deducted the price for 2 packs. Coupon 15863697 did not work but coupon 10853472 did give me the $15 off.
Has anyone been able to use the 2 for 1 coupon on two separate orders? I tried last week with the Verbatim deal but it said the coupon had already been used.

Roy H,
Both the 15863697 and 10853472 15.00 off 50.00 coupons worked when I went to the checkout screen. I put the 10853472 code in the original post just in case one doesn't work for some, though. Both show a 9/18 exp date.

you know i realy like this thread. ill tell you why. anyone can help anyone in this thread.
there is no "user level" for saving a buck.
we all can do it equaly as well as the next.
even if we have no "sale report" just leting someone know if a brand works or not is golden. some spend the cash and report back with results on a new brand. some walk you through the steps of how to double coupons and put exactly the right product code "in your cart". thanks everybody!
oh and i dont want to be off topic so i gotta say the 10 pak optimum +r at staples this week for 15.00 and then a 5.00 rebate makes it a buck each. these are not optodisc these are optimum
i tried them and they work fine. great for the "slow burner" who only needs ten at a time.

I was able to get the -R Memorex from Office Depot, but I had to do it in a very odd way. I went to the store to check their stock. Online it kept telling me that there were none in my store or available for delivery. So I checked my local store. They had about 30 of them. I came back home, called the 800 number, placed the order for the two packs, utilized the $15 off coupon, and went to the store and picked them up about 1 hour later. The store would not honor the $15 coupon if you walked in and had the coupon number, but if you order it online and pick it up at the store it works. Anyhow, I got the -R discs at the store and ordered the +R discs for delivery (and they also came today).

Top of the morning to all!
I installed a Sony DRU 500A a bit after Sony released it. After a lot of experimenting I found that DVD-R media seems to be playable in more set top players. I took a chance and ordered 50 Leda general puropse DVD-Rs (1x) from shop4tech. They are actually princos. Not one coaster! The service and turn around time at shop4tech.com was great and the shipping was Fa ree.
Since that initial order, I have ordered well over 2000 of the Leda DVD-Rs, still not one coaster. The discs are manufactured with quality and are sturdy too. No chance of seperation. These disc are the purple write side, blank glossy white top.
To date, the cost: .84 cents each for 50, .81 cents each for 100, .78 cents each for 300 and .76 cents each for 500. Don't forget there is free ground shipping.
Please, please ,please. Do not post a review at the Shop4tech site. I originally was buying these for .66 cents each for 300. A half dozen or so giddy customers posted rave reviews and the price shot up. Let's try to keep 'em under a buck each :>)

Can you post the link you go to at their site? Not just the main site, I have been there, but the one to the media itself?
Thanks
I have little or no luck with -R media, but I'll give them a shot.
Thanks for the liberty Mr.Roberts, thanks for the liberty.
What kind of burner do you have? As I said I'm using the Sony DRU 500A and these DVD-R are tops. I don't mind 1X at all. I'm from the slow but steady school :>)
Good luck and let me know how it works out.
BTW: I also get my inkjet cartdridges from shop4tech too. I have an Epson Stylus Photo 785EPX and the replacments they sell are cheap and work real good. Especiall for the price again with FREE shipping!

spacedout, aren't you that customer service guy from shop4tech I talked to last week regarding my complain??? LOL JK man... shop4tech are great, one thing about the Leda, they are perfect, don't get me wrong, BUT when I bought my 100 pack from them, they sold them to me as 2X for the DRU500a which is what I have as well. I tried contacting them, I sent 3 e-mails and they never replied. the media actually displayed at 2x, but it took the time of a 1x (about 45-55 minutes per full disc) That's just a bit too slow for me, when I do home videos, I usually do it in a rush, and burning them at 4x (15 minutes) sure beats 55 :)
some posts before this one mention Memorex being on special 4X-R or 4X+R come out to like $48 for 50.

Thanks again spacedout
I am running the DRU510 and the BenQ that 321 offered.
As for the ink, I have also thought about that, but I read someplace that the life of the picture you print with these generic cartridges is MUCH shorter than with the real thing.
Thanks for the liberty Mr.Roberts, thanks for the liberty.
