Thanks for the info oneacer. I'll look in to getting some Ritek from one of the sites you mentioned. Hopefully we can work something out.

Also, I noticed on bestbuy.com that they have 25-packs of Fuji 4X DVD+R on sale this week for $39.99

Roy,

That's great, hope they work out for you!

omni99,

You're right, you can use the buy one, get one free coupon code for only one format. (Which @ 1.13/ea + tax is a good deal on it's own)

I was just clarifying the Techbargains info on using the both + and - R's to qualify for the additional 15.00 coupon.

I'll go back and edit.

well, the 'wait time" for reply and edit was less than 30 seconds. I suspect the problem you're having is on your end.

Has anyone had experience with Khypermedia? I just installed my Sony DRU510A and decided to try the KHypermedia (DVD-R 10-pack for $9.99 at OfficeMax). Some worked fine using DVD X Copy and Xpress ... however two failed under DVDXCopy with a fatal error; and, strangely, under DVDXCopy Xpress two indicated "Burn Completed Successfully" and ejected the disc after completing only 5 minutes of the ~1 hour burn process. Has anyone else had this problem with the media; or could it be my drive (this is my first experience with burning DVDs with my new DRU510A).

Lots of people have reported on Khypermedia. Almost all have been bad. Seems to be one of the worst brands out there at this time. Do a search on Khypermedia and you will see what I mean.

Bought a 10pk of double +RWs from Microcenter in Va. sometime ago for $16.00. The best thing about them is the ultra slim double cases. Got about 80% success with them. Have never used
-Rs so I can't help you there.

I have used many diffrent types fo media mainly -r's accus, maxell, tdk, memorex, fuji and khypermedia. The best media that I have used is kyhpermedia never have had ANY at all fail. I have done about 50 movies w/ khypermedia they are slow, but maybe that is why I have had no coasters w/ khypermedia. I forgot I bought some -r off of ebay a couple of times unbranded disc they sucked.

Regarding the Khypermedia post; after creating 4 Khypermedia coasters in my first 12 discs I bought a 25 pack of TDK 4X +R; what a difference; the TDK media works perfectly everytime with my DRU-510A; and full disc writes complete in 15 minutes (compared to 58 minutes with the Khypermedia ... when they worked). And the TDK media was the same price; .99 each.

Anyone have any advice on cheap, reliable media for the Sony 510 burner? I know that Accus worked very well on the 500 at 2x speed as long as you kept the firmware at 1.0g or below. Any word on whether Accus will burn at 2x on the 510 and if so what firmware to use, or any other alternative suggestion for similar inexpensive 2x media for the 510? Thanks

I recently bought CompUSA brand(EFI)1x for $44.95 for a 50 pack. I am running a Pioneer 104 with firmware update, and I have had great results. Check their website for the special on the 50 pack, seems to be a regular price for their brand of DVD's. I just backed-up Two Towers without a problem using the latest version of DXCX.

Dengar, do you still have the 2.0c firmware for the Sony, or a link to it? Would it work with the 510? (I am getting a second drive soon). Sony now has 2.0f firmware for the 500 I think which drops my Accus to 1x instead of the former 2x they have with 1.0g (I buy these Accus because they are the cheapest reliable media I can find that burns at 2x), which is what I use now until I can get this figured out.....

Thanks, Marcus
