I just purchased Platinum and am disapointed at the lack of features. I waited a year for nothing.
Simple mode (Xpress) allows you to remove unwanted audio and subtitles from the backup.
Advanced mode (platinum) allows you to remove title sets. BUT NOT UNWANTED AUDIO AND SUBTITLE TRACKS!
This is ridiculous. Its the same old product with a new name and new package. I would be willing to bet that in many cases, Xpress (platinum simple mode) will give you as good, or better video quality. Why? because the removed audio and subtitles in many cases take up much more room than the title screens and THX logos that you cna remove in advanced mode.
What gives 321? Did somebody not use their thinker and conclude that the BEST product would do the following.
1) Allow removal and/or adjustable compression of each titleset
2) Allow the removial off unwanted audio tracks and unwanted subtitles.
3) Show video format, play length, etc for each titleset selected. I mean come on this information is available from the DVD.
4) Allow adjustment of record speed and other fine tuning parameters.
You have shown that you can do each and every one of these things, so why the heck cant you do them all in one program? Are you going to make us wait for another year and a $200 release to get this functionality?
You guys have obviously created a product for idiots, not video oficianados and nerds. But hey wait, you already did that with XPress. How about a product for those of us who strive for the best possible video quality, not the easiest click and go solution.
If the user were allowed to remove titlesets, subtitles and audio at will, the backup copy would obviously e less compressed and therefore of better video quality.

I completely agree. Can't believe that Platinum do NOT even have a autoburn feature that the Express has. Who is do product release and planning features? Platinum for most companies means "every feature!"

I would just like to add my aggreement here.
Platinum is not even close to being as functional or as stable as DXC 1.5.2.
Until Platinum has a modicum of useable features, I will not use it.
I too have wondered what has happened with Derrow, ifo-edit expert, over at 321. The last I heard of him was a few words in the 321 conference-call that took place about a year ago. I hope he is still on the 321 software team.

BTW, the last I heard of Derrow he still had the immigration problem and he wasn't allowed back in the U.S. At that point he was in Germany doing something for 321, but this info is at least 5-6 months old.
Just sent you an email. I lost/forgot my username. Password no, but username, yes. No! Wait....... It was (um....) "stolen" on me. (Honest injun). Someone pickpocketed me. I had it safely writ down, but some bugger swiped it.

I also assume that nobody from 321 gives a rats ass about suggestions. Bottom line is that Platiunum is costly garbage that offers less features than Xpress for more money. Nice to see even the best of companies can jump on the scam-artist bandwagon too.
A monkey would have known to add to the features of Xpress, not take them away. Get a clue 321.

Whether 321 gives a rats ass or not is a non issue.
321 Studios does not frequent this forum any longer. If you would like to communicate your feelings in a place where they might read it, please post in thier new forum.
