When I play my DVD on a consumer player the movie skips sometimes for several seconds. The problem seems worse when I've used "CD Stomper" labels on the disk. Has anybody else had this problem? When I look at professional DVDs their labels seem much lighter in weight.

If you search on this forum for keyword "Labels" you will see all kinds of stuff about problems with labels. They casue a disk imbalance and that casues the disks to freeze up. I just tried out a new kind of label by neato that are clear. This has solved the problem for me. You can remove old labels with WD40 ...read this thread:
