OK, Took the plunge,

Add/Remove programs, remove 1.5.0. Removed Gear Drivers, Removed everything else, Even removed directory. Reboot. Install 1.5.2 then simply went ahead and burnt a backup of Moulin Rouge - No problems encountered. Are you guys who are having problems do this un-install/reinstall doing as an Administrator - I'm sure you are, just thought I would ask

Hey you guys...I've been trying to download 1.5.2 for two days now, and can't do it. The darm thing just hangs there. I get 5 bars into the download and it stops or appears to stop. Is there an FTP server somewhere current users of 1.5.0 can go to get this upgrade ??? I think after two days of trying we should all get free shipping & Handling for a free CD. I lowered all of my Firewall & Security protection down to "Zero" in Internet options and still can't get it to complete the download. Is traffic causing this problem, or don't we have enough servers available to accomodate the load ??? The free software (Jukebox) downloads just fine, but 1.5.2 just sits there. What Gives ???

Sure you can get it here:

I installed 1.5.2 last night, no problems.

I started a backup of Grease & placed a -rw in the burner & clicked the disc is ready box. No problems, DVDxCOPy overrwrote it, no disc fixation problems. I then vacke it up to -R's which palyed perfectly. I also longer see the pixelation problems when doing previews. Beauty & the Beast still comes up with the wrong default split point ( 12 ). You have to change it to chapter 16, otherwise too much data is set aside for disc 2 so the burn fails.

All in all 1.5.2 works fine, although I reallly didn't have any major problems with 1.5.0.

I thinks it's safe for you to upgrade

I think you are right that usually +/-RW can be used many more times than the number of burns that I get out of them here.

We torture test the program though, which probably shortens the life of the disks. I didn't even think about that when I posted originally.

We do stuff like intentionally dump the buffer as many times as we can during the burn, or cancel the burn, which I think in both cases can cause damage to the +/-RW disks in some cases.

Also, the disks are usually scratched around the 4th-5th use, so they each have been resurfaced at least once using the GameDR.

"I thought we were supposed to be able to write to a +rw upwards of 1,000 times. Would that be just regular data? I've got a Phillips that I have used now 46 times with no problem.

You burn a lot more movies than I do so I defer to you. How does a +rw act when it has been written on too many times?"

What does it do on disk 2? Does it give any errors? What are your system specs? What types of media have you tried?

If you have log files or screenshots, please send them along with an explanation of what happens to bugs@dvdxcopy.com

stick withh 1.41 if it works don't fix it
nice to hear that 1.52 is working for most of you, mine was a complete disaster , I had minor problems with 1.5 -1.41 and 1.31 , but I had to go back to 1.5 thats how bad 1.52 was for me
hp dvd 200i
2.53 gigs
if I had to explain all that went wrong with 1.52 we would need another thread.

Are the disks you're having problems with episodic? ("I am dealing which Season Tv shows DVD... ") If so, there may not be a way around the problem yet, but we are working on it.

When you say that it "was a complete disaster", what do you mean? What did it do, or not do?

Did you get any errors? If so what did they say?
Do you have any log files? They may tell us what happened..

You can send any info you can to bugs@dvdxcopy.com if you do not want to post it all here.

We still have problems. 1.4.1 runs great. 1.5.2 will not make a disc that I can play in our set-top sony. Burns fine and the discs play in a computer, but alas, the program is unusable as it has been written.

Seriously Disappointed.

Sony DVP-NC600 settop player
DVDXCopy Version 1.5.2
P4 2.4Gig
ASUS P4PE w/533MHz Front Side Bus

PNY Verto Ti4600 128M Video beast
HP DVD200i (internal) DVD writer (+R/+RW)
Samsung DVD ROM/CD-R/RW for playing DVDs
Western 120G SE drive + 80G SE drive
Windows 98 SE (updated, defragd, norton system works, etc)
Minimal background processes (no AV, but cable net is on)
420W power supply
Fujifilm +R discs

Has anyone had any problems with 1.52 and DVD-RW disks? I tried Nero with DVD-RW and will not play in any of my players, except the Apex. With an older version of Nero and v 1.31 I did not have this problem. So I am now trying track down which of the two, is the problem...

Hi you all...i am very new to this, but i dont understand this i thought that the meaning of a new version was to improve things??
I never had any problems with version 1.41. it would burn my discs perfectly with gear and nero...i prefer nero so i can use deamontools and the buffer of my sony dru500a keeps almost all the time at 100%..i tried version 1.5 and what happend every disc i burnd with nero would not play on any of my dvd home players i have 3 dvd home players 1 sony 1 LG and one samsung...i tried version 1.52 and still the same problem.... before with version 1.41 i had no problems the discs would play on all 3 dvd home players...i can't understand what studio 321 changed in the new versions that dvdxcopy is not working with nero anymore...
Hope they can fix this problem very soon..uninstalled version 1.52 and deleted folder of 321 studio and cleand up the registry and installed version 1.41 again ...and gues what?? nero is working perfectly again....dvdxcopy is the best program there is to copy dvd's but i really hope they can fix the problem with nero very soon..

ireland - Yep, I feel the same way about 1.5.2 as reported earlier.

zawalis & dpsmith:
Maybe you got corrupted (as ireland suggests) downloads. 321_Q/A has never answered my previous question as to how many copies of DXC have been sold, but just imagine a minimum of 1 million enthusiastic DXC users all trying to download v.1.5.2 over a 48 hour period! It's not like freeware downloads, as I read above, it's more like a stampede! Ireland may be correct. Try downloading in the middle of the night (north american time) (turn off firewalls & anti-virus) or maybe you should try 321143's provided ftp link:

mwillett , Jaybo, stollery:
I get monday/tuesday off so that gives me five days to read this thread before deciding to download and upgrade. 1.5.2 posts are looking better than 1.5 posts overall and I'll probably give it a go then. Work-is-major-work this week (network/workstation probs), so no time/energy leftover for "fun".

You know, I've been reading (trying) all these posts writen by people who come from the the UK and from the USA (I heard a rumor that their 1rst language is English) and have had trouble understanding some of the fine points (with technology questions, it is important to understand the fine points) of what they are trying to communicate. Then I end up "blowing my cork" right after your post ... a guy trying his best to write in a second language! I'm so embarrassed! Sorry man.

Best regards

I have the same problem as you do, but Nero burns at 2X and Gear burns at 1X. I sure hope they fix that issue soon.

I don't understand why 321/DXC stopped including "internal nero" which was always "matched" to DXC's release version. Then there would not be any release problems with this or that version of external nero.

17 Apr 2003 12:34 PM
Have you tried using the UDF flag?

17 Apr 2003 12:38 PM
What version of External Nero are you using?

If it is not at least then you will need to upgrade. I believe that the latest version of Nero have some fixes included for burning compatible DVDs that somewhere got a little messed up in one of the previous versions..

17 Apr 2003 12:51 PM
Sorry man, I must have missed the question regarding how many pieces of DXC we have sold. I wasn't ignoring you though..

We have sold just under one million of them so far. (download and CD versions included)

People are also downloading our trial version at the pace of about 2 downloads/minute, 24 hours a day.

BTW, Don't hesitate to PM me if it's taking me too long to reply.

The Internal Nero feature was one that we grappled with for a long time, until management finally decided that it would be left out of the software.

We were not told the reasoning behind the decision.

Nero may be added back into future versions of the software, but nobody knows for sure yet.

Its true about a corrupt download i downloaded

put disk into drive checked disk ready.
when it reached the burn stage,it kept asking
over and over to overwrite files.pulled disk out
put back into rom it burned.
I down loaded a new copy of 1.52 reinstalled
over 1.52,now the copy and to burn is ok.
also the player now plays in my player with
out playing with the remote.
I now put the disk in my player, its just like the orignal it auto plays.

It would be nice for 321 if folks were BUYING DXC at 2 downloads/minute, 24 hours a day!

Kudos to Q/A for supporting us all!

Hey(!) to ireland. Off to work now.
