I'm thinking USB external. Tried a Pioneer but it's going back tomorrow. Money is an issue.
Suggestions..
Let me add my thinking is the external would be more flexible. Anyone else use one. I know it slowed ripping way down.

OS (WinXP SP1)

Installed RAM (768MB RAM)
Hard drives (2/80 Gig Maxtor)

Externals are limited to the speed at which the data transfer can take place...
USB1 = 1.5 megabytes per second on the high end.
USB2 = 60 MBPS
Firewire = 50 MBPS
Firewire, while slower will actually give you more stable transfer rates than USB and is recommended. I prefer an internal drive as well as many others.
