I am one of the lucky ones. Version 3.1.1 of Plantinum burns every DVD I throw at it in Advanced mode. I can compress, split, etc. with no problems.
On a lark, I decided to try simple mode for Dreamcatcher onto a DVD+RW with my Sony 500A internal. It seemed to work OK with a full disk burn, but in my Sony standalone player, the Sony reported that the disk could not be played.
I took the same disk and the same DVD+RW and did the same full disk burn with Advanced. This time, no problem at all. It plays just fine.
I don't get it. I am glad Advanced works, and since Advanced seems to be able to do all that Simple can do and more, it's not really an issue. I just wonder what makes one fail and one work, all things being the same.

Welcome to the club...seems alot of people have the same issue I hope its resolve in 3.2

You're both absoltuely right - xpress via simple mode does not work at all with me - I thought it was just me, but seems others have this problem too. It doesn't really both me though as I have xpress installed already with dvd x copy gold.
What DOES bother me though is the basic lack of a user guide to use the advanced features - I have no clue how to use this product - can anyone tell me what I should do, how I can split, what I should include on the disc, what I should compress, why I get disc read errors before it burns etc??? I have so far had only one successful burn with this product....

I can backup using Advance mode in Platinum 3.1.1, but not Simple mode, Tried XPRESS VERSION 3.0.5 and can burn & play DVD+RW but +R seems to burn but won't play anywhere. Will wait patiently for Platinum 3.2.
Finally...used DVD Decrypter to finalize my XPRESS burns, all work OK now, why can't this be incorporated into the software???
