Rendering,
Yes, it does have it's own burning engine.
You will not have more than one burning option in XPRESS, but you shouldn't need it.

What is the largest TV that you have tested the DXC Express backups on? Have you noticed the compression when you use it on larger TV's ?

Guys,
I have a 65 inch rear projection Hitachi HDTV & I also have a 120 inch motorized screen with a Sharp 10000 DLP HDTV front projector & I cannot see quality difference from the original!
That's 10 FEET WITHOUT quality loss!
GREAT WORK 321!

Thanx Chris I have a 65" RP HDTV as well and I am just a little wary of how these express backups will look. BTW have you compared to the originals??

nucahx,
We have a 60 inch screen in our Theater/Conference Room, and I always watch the back-up copies on that screen to determine the quality of the picture.
The image quality on that large projection TV is near perfect. Rarely do I see any pixilation, or abnormalities.

I have a 61 in rca. I forget the model # (but its the one with dv input for digital camcorders and the like) if the movie is 180 minutes or longer and you look for it you will notice the shadows are just a bit darker and maybe a gliter in a single pixel on occasion. But when engrosed in a movie I am not looking for a flicker of light on the edge of the screen.
That is to be expected with some movies the single pixel gliter is there in some scenes on the original. Where this is mostly seen is on the remastered movies that hollywood is rereleasing on dvd. We just have to remember that most of these releases coming out on dvd now where at one time called flicker shows. So what I am calling the gliter pixel will happen even on some originals.

I can't even get to download it.
321 shows it can be downloaded on the support page, but instead I get this:
You are not eligible for the free download at this time.
Please check back later for more details.
I would like to use EXPRESS but can't even get it.

ireland,
If you haven't done so already, switch your burner so that it is the "master" and make the DVD-ROM slave.
Also, check the DMA/PIO mode again and make sure it stayed on DMA. It seems like sometimes a program will set it back to PIO mode and you may not realize it.
Let me know how it goes.

sjm560,
No problem! We appreciate the help and the "real world" testing that we could never accomplish here without tripling our company's size.
When installing the full version, go ahead and remove the Beta, and delete its Program Folder if it still exists after the uninstall.
Then install the Full Version of XPRESS.
If you have any problems, let me know.

I am another customer that is unable to download Express. Yes I did pay full price, yes I did send in a copy of my receipt (twice) and yes I did purchase it before the deadline date. I am getting the same message as the other users "You are not eligible for the free download at this time. Please check back later for more details." Hopefully this issue will be ironed out soon.

xgasman,
Are you a Retail customer? (did you buy it at a store or online)
Either way, you ARE eligible to get XPRESS, but if you bought the software in a store, we are still setting up our network to allow those downloads to go through.
Please be patient, and the downloads should be fixed either this afternoon, or if not, by tomorrow.

321_Q/A - seems like most of the folks are having the same success I had when I beta tested this rascal. Thought for sure when I compared the original to the backup on a hi-def I'd see quite a difference; didn't happen.
Though the beta testing period was incredibly short I still have to say good job 321.

321_Q/A,
All burners are all set to master, except one computer which both cd-drive and writer are set
to c/s.which i do get a better and faster rip.
all are set to ULTA DMA MODE.
If set to PIO,I SURE WILL KNOW,copy time will double.
It takes 19 min to copy whole movie (RINGS) in
express DMA,(pio 42min as tested)

I downloaded the beta 2 of Xpress. Installation went fine, activation went fine, but when I execute the program I get the splash screen and then nothing happens. I am running an AMD 1800+ cpu, 512 megs DDR, MS XP pro sp1, Pioneer DVR-104. DVDXCOPY has run fine from version 1.3 thru 1.5 on this system.

321_Q/A,
Ihave XP installed on a second partition,
XP is so touchey running hard working programs
like dvdxcopy, like going back to PIO from DMA.
installed programs on xp always seem to conflict
with each other.I don't have that problem with
win-2000.
With the same programs installed on xp,i get a lot of warnings, and errors.or i have to restore
the system, thats why i call XP, (XP-ME-RESTORE) I use xp just to play with.I know a lot of users are useing XP with dvdxcopy but,i don't like it.
I will never put express on XP!!!!!!!
XP is not as stable as win-2000.
I started out with dvdxcopy 11-25-02 and only had minor problems from the first version installed on win-2000,it always worked, also i had no problems with express 2.0 it works.
Just ask-WHISPERER or others who are useing win-2000.

ireland - Hi,
Can't begin to imagine from your post exactly why you're having difficulty, but I've run DXC on 2000 and XP Home and Pro. Don't find that I can prove that one is more or less stable than the other, but my preference is XP Pro. In fact, I beta tested XPress on Pro, right along side 1.5.2 without conflict. I would be more than willing to help if you provided just a little more data, like what kind of error messages, from which programs are they coming from, how did you determine that DXC is the culprit, etc.
Note: I have a mix of XP Pro and 2000 on the network in my store and they get along just dandy. :)

stollery,
Yea, the Beta Testing period was much shorter than it would usually be. This was due to the amount of testing that we did on it in-house, and to the excellent reports given to us by the Beta Testers.
I think things went really smoothly though.. Not many problems at all, so far.

Sounds like you dont got the xpress driver set right. Uninstall again then look for these keys in regestry.
driver install
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\321Studios\DriverInstall
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\321Studios\DriverInstall\Main
main app
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\321Studios\Xpress
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\321Studios\Xpress\Settings
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\321Studios\Xpress
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHIN\Software\321Studios\Xpress\Drive
if any of these are there remove them and then install again. This time you should get to click ok for the driver installed and then ok again for the comp to reboot.
darksaint
you are tring to use the dxc id# go to page 4 of this thread and read 321_Q/A post of where to go and then you will get a id# for dxcx.
