When I try to backup a movie I get the following message:
CSS Error Message:
This DVD is Encrypted with Content Scrambling System (CSS). You cannot backup theis DVD movie with this software.
Contacted support and they were of no help.

Question, I would like to get DVD software that doesn't connect to the mothership. Seems this software tries to connect and if not possible, it doesn't function.

Anyone know if DVD Next Copy operates the same way. I'm using the 3 day trial and it works ok...

This is not the DVDneXtCopy support forum.

However, I will tell you this;

1.) You need a third party application to decrypt the CSS protections.

2.) The software calling home, , ,is checking the validity of your license, and for software updates.

Also, tech support told me they were having a problem with their servers and granted me 3 more activations but problem still exsists....

your making a mistake as dvd43 has not be updated in a very long time, anydvd is updated like 2 or 3 times a month to keep up with the newer protections that are out.

anydvd works with dvdnextcopy and clonedvd..

If you choose to use another 3 party decrypter other than Machinist2.dll (which is the programs recommended free decrypter )...it is then advisable to completely remove Machinist2.dll ( if you have it installed )from your system as it is always running in the background and cannot be turned off . A number of users are choosing to use SLYSOFT's ANYDVD instead which is free to try for 21 days but must be purchased after that and is completly compatible. In this case DVDneXtCopy's compatibility mode must be selected in order for it to work...a warning flag will then pop up

Thanks for the all info...kind of a crash course
since my purchased dvdxcopy platinum has failed to rip....

I thought DVD nextcopy was an all in one package not needing a decrypter....

So, If I get anydvd (decrypter) and clonedvd, I should be all set?

I did install Machinist2.dll, not sure if I installed with dvd43 or dvd nextcopy.
Anyway, if I understand correctly, remove Machinist2.dll when installing anydvd?

The DVDXCopy version 4.0.1.5RF is a ripper free version, and will give you the CSS errors per your post. As I stated earlier you need a third Party App. such as the one Ireland told you about.

Your thread title is a version of DVDneXtCopy v2.5.8.2, and not any released version of DVDXCopy Platinum.

Their website is clear on needing a third pary decrypter, and links to the Machinist2.dll.

Answer: That is correct.

However, DVDXCopy v 4.0.1.5RF will also work with AnyDVD as long as your Patin Couffin version has been updated. Checkout the program files in DVDXCopy 4.0.1.5RF and you will find the version you have installed.

I checked the program files and I don't see where I can check Patin Couffin version. I went to PCsetup.exe and it just says patin-couffin driver.

Everytime I start dvdxcopy platinum RF it asks me to download version 4.0.3.8. released 2/8/07 Version I have is 4.0.4.15.
Should I download 4.0.3.8 (I would think it is older version). Man, this is screwed up software...

where did ye get 40415 and when?

because it will not ask ye to download v4038 if its is the original installed program bought from 321-studios from year 2004

also v4038 has to be installed and activated to activate 40415 and there are no more activating servers.

this is weird, I purchased this 3/04. I have had to replace hard drives and I contacted dvdxcopy support and they have added more activations.
I never had a problem before and the program is working again.

I have the original DVD X copy Platinum disc (3.2.1.0) that I purchased. I don't remember where I purchased from, I'm trying to locate the receipt. I also have Dvd Xcopy Platinumb RF (v4.0.4.15) that I downloaded and have a note on it to use (I don't remember how I got it). I think 321 let me download it from their site.

The PC in PCsetup stands for Patin Couffin, you can download the latest version from VSO's website.
