Don't Understand XCopy Process...Help!

Ran XCopy to backup a movie. Copied to HD fine and said to insert blank. Did that and finally got the sign that backup was done. When I took the disc out, the screen said to reinsert the original movie. I thought the copying was done!
I got curious and tried to play the first disc, which was supposed to be done, on my Sony DVD player, which has been playing other Xpress copies. The DVD player did not even recognize that there was a disc in the player! What's going on? Sorry if I'm not explaining everything properly, but I'm new to this. Please explain what's going on. Thanks for the help.

darita,

I'll be moving your post and this thread to the DVDXCopy v1.x, where DVDXCopy is discussed.

Do you have a separate reader and burner?

Have you used DVDXCopy before with no problems?

I have an internal burner in my laptop. Yes I have tried to make copies with XCopy before. What happens is, the first disc comes out great, the second one says it has timed out and burn was unsuccessful. I'm making alot of coasters! So I either get nothing at all or half of a burn. What's going on?

please switch to a rw disc while we work this out.
1)did you buy a disc in a store or download direct?
2)if you bought a disc did you let it update to the current version? the next time you start the program let it connect to the net by pressing the check for updates button in the first box that pops up
3) since the first disc is always ok. would a movie that fit on one disc be ok ? have you tried that ?

i will be back soon

Thanks for your reply! I purchased the DVD XCopy Gold online and was sent a disc. I downloaded the disc, then registered online. A few days later, I got the Platinum version, free, online. I have been using the original Gold version of X Copy.
I called Tech for help and he told me to use the "Start with menu" option at the beginning of the process. This worked with "Stuart Little" and I am trying another movie at this time. The tech could not tell me why this would work. Can you? I will try the update you suggested as well and will let you know how the next copy goes. Thanks again for your attention. Being new to XCopy and new to computers, I'm really out there on my own.

darita,

Check to make sure Windows isn't shutting that drive off to conserve power.
Check in your power settings screen under the Screen Saver tab. Set everything to 'never'.

Also check to see if you have hibernation enabled.

darita...regarding: "and I am trying another movie at this time"...if i were you, i wouldn't do anything while processing movies...not a good idea.
It is already over 90 days since last post to this thread, you're not allowed to post here anymore.
