botella - yeah, heaven forbid that anyone (and we've helped many) would take the time to provide their specs so we could help them. Probably just as well that you got a refund.

cado,

Monday is the scheduled release date for the new version of Platinum. If you are not in any hurry, wait a few days, and download the New version.

cado,

When the next Platinum version is released (V3.1.xx)test the version using +RW blank media. Saves you the time of throwing your money in the trash. {:o)

Yes that is a good idea. Im just used to buying +r nor rw because they are cheaper but in the end rw will save me money. Thanks

cado,

Platinum V3.1.0 is on the site for download.

Using +RW to test any release is the best thing to do in preventing coasters.

Once you know you have a good back up you can repeat the procedures and burn the backup to +R media.

Good Luck,

Oh, come on now.

This ridiculous suggestion that you test every backup with a DVD-RW before you commit a DVD-R to it is extremely tiresome. I don't expect to have to beta test an application every time I use it to avoid flushing money down the toilet. Name one other product on the market that offers an official recommendation of "We don't promise it's going to work, so you better test it first".

I also was very disappointed in Platinum. Not that it's a bad product, I just see exactlly ZERO value added over X Copy Gold. Who sells an application with no instructions included?? It's not like there's a lot of options to screw with, but I can't make it do anything interesting at all, so what am I to think?

I've asked for a refund, but only got one vague and unhelpful reply and no further responses. This makes me sad, I had such high hopes.

Rapmaster I totally agree with you, thus the full point, you pay $150.00 to become a beta tester, what a shame

Rapmaster,botella,

If you two blokes are that unhappy, I see no reason for you two, not to ask for your money back. The software is being beta tested, and released at the same time. Now if you don't want to give up the software, and not burn coasters, do as I have suggested. You are free to call at any time, or email. You are not alone, but I am staying with the software, because of the ability of backing up the entire disc. The biggest thing I see lacking, is an instruction, on the use of the software.

Good Luck to both of you,

Jaybo,

Maybe it's childish of me, but $150 is a lot of money to drop on something that "almost" works. If they can make Platinum a product that I can get some value from, then I'll gladly pay the money. Right now, it's simply not, and I'd like to have my money returned until such a time as the product is ready to be purchased.

FYI: I HAVE requested a refund, three times now. Once I recieved instructions to return the CD (I downloaded my copy, like 99% of everyone else, there IS no CD), and twice now I've gotten no reply.

Am I being unreasonable?

Jaybo,

I didn't mean to sound like I was blaming YOU for anything, sorry if it came across like that.

I like to think I'm a reasonable guy, heck, I'd be happy with a refund for the difference between Gold and Platinum. I've been very satisfied with the Gold features. But nobody at 321 will return my messages...and now I'm sad. :-(

Dear 321 Studios,

Why did you release a totally 100% defective program? A program that you knew was junk from it's release on 9 - 3 - 2003. I am so disappointed in you that I have lost all respect for you and your complete technical staff and their abilities to write programs that can't even light a match to Microsoft's worst software ever created. How dare you steal money from unsuspecting customers knowing you had nothing to offer.

Rapmaster,

I can understand your frustration. I didn't take your statements personally. I can understand the frustration a lot of folks are going thru. Keep trying to contact them, also post a message in the Feedback to 321 section of the forum.

Dak77,

Please read my post above, you can also post in the "Every thing else" section of the forum. There is a thread for Rants that will get the eye of 321 Studios,,,,,, Fast.

WOW and I don't mean workers of the world, a lot of people are peeed and with good reason. I said it before and I'll say it again, just sit back and monitor this forum. After all the smoke clears and a working version of Platinum is released and it will be, then download and install. No big deal. In the mean time, work with the Xcopy prods you have that are working fine.

That's 321's track record from the git go. A lot of releases and trial and error until they hit the nail on the head. And they always hit the nail on the head, in time. Your money isn't flushed, you will always be able to download a better version a bit later.

You can always vent at Starbucks. Just go up to the counter and venti :>)

I'm sure there are a lot of users who are getting PLATINUM to work. But, there are some of us....me included.... who haven't succeded yet. I know my problem is probably my setup as I had DVDXCOPY and XPRESS working very well on a prior system, but I recently changed computers and the hardware setup is different. I'll keep working at it and I'm sure I'll get it to work eventually. Other users just need to hang in there if prior versions worked. There are possibly some tweaks that will be made that will get most of them up and running soon. Otherwise keep your eyes on the threads for users to post possible things to try on your system.

There are several greyed out features of DXCP. These features, including TDF Files, have not been implemented yet. Not for you, not for anyone.

With successive updates features such as TDF editing and the ability to browse files from the hard drive will be added to DXCP.

Until then the buttons will be greyed out and unusable.

I'm sure we all appreciate the clarification Dengar, but it simply reinforces my disappointment in Platinum.

Offering a product for sale with a listed feature set, and then finding out after purchase that not all of those features are available yet, shows a questionable buisness ethic.

Dengar, you seem very knowledgeable about the products, can you tell me what exactly it is that Platinum does that Gold does not? Other than extremely limited compression tweaking, I'm at a loss as to what I paid for.

And if anyone is keeping track, I've made 4 requests for a refund now with no response.

Just so we are all on the same page here; Gold is simply DXC and DXCX bundled together. I have both.

Differences:
1)
DXCP will allow you to select muliple titlesets, and choose the compressionm for each titleset.

DXCX will apply one compression logic to the whole titleset/disc.

DXC offers no compression

2)
DXCP allows you to review each titleset.

So does DXC.

DXCX does not.

3)
DXCP comes with DVD X Rescue(DXR) which allows you to read and burn damaged DVD's and CD's.

Neither DXC nor DXCX offer this capapbility.

However, Platinum, when fully developed, will be awesome.

It will allow you individual cell compression.

It will allow you to browse files from your harddrive.

It will come with complete TDF editing, which will allow you to completely customoze the backup. Since this process will be considered highly advanced, DXCP will allow you to plugin TDF Files made by others that will give you the perfect backup you're looking for.

I must agree that right now DXCP sucks. There's no denying that fact. To be honest, I don't even use it. Right now I continue to use DXC 1.5.2. and DXCX 2.5.2. until platinum offers me something.

I am patiently waiting for Platinum to become what was promised to us. I would not get a refund. I would wait for the updates to be released.

321 has a habit of releasing subpar softare and then fixing it as they go. Platinum is no exception.

I have very faith that before long, the features we want will finally be given to us. I have my reservations about them relying so much on the VSO drivers. I would much prefer to see VSO drivers for the compression side and Gear drivers for the non-compression side, what do I know, I'm just a user. I am going to stop now becasue I feel a rant coming on.

If I have not addressed everything you'd like me to just let me know. If you have other questions, do not hesitate to ask.

As for asking for a refund, this is not the place to do it. This is a USERS forum. We are purchasers and users of this software ourselves. The only people on this forum that work for 321Studios are RHMoore, 321_Geek, and 321_Q/A. You must send them a PM or ask through official channels.

Now have platinum working very good, took a lot of trial and error but now very satisfied. The simple mode is also functioning satisfactorally. When all the bugs have been worked out it will be every bit that you wanted.
