Is there anyone, on this forum, using this program. I did a search and found no references to it. I am considering it but the product page provides very little info. No screen shots or references to FAQ or manual. Is it buggy? Is it straight forward, with a help file, or does it leave you to figure its feature on your own. I would appreciate any comments from those who maybe using it. Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same hesitancy regarding DVD X Maker. The marketing information on the website is terrible... and no one in customer service has used it, so there's nowhere to turn right now for better insight.
Perhaps they'll attend to these ancillary products once Platinum sheds its training wheels. I can wait.

Based upon 0 responses, I have to assume that no one on this forum has DVD X SHOW. Since it does not seem to be very popular I think my wisest choice is to NOT purchase it. 321 needs to improve its web site in order to provide better info on its products. Although I am very happy with Express I do not think that I will be buying anything else from them for awhile. Platinum, except for those getting it free, should never have been released at this time. If SHOW is anything like it then I would not even have the benefit of this forum for help. They released a number of new titles this month without any information. Not a good sales tactic, I think.
Perhaps they should offer free trial downloads so the user could get a feel of the program. This would at least compensate for the lack of info.

When I was interested in Express I tried the free download. I liked what I saw so I purchased it. As I said above, if you cannot provide enough marketing material then give out samples...

dhoward,
I don't have that software yet, but I will be getting it.
From what I've read/heard it's supposed to be a great program.
I've used those types of programs before and they're not anything close to the system sensitivity that Platinum has.
Sorry I couldn't provide you with any more info.

Where, other then 321's web site have you read anything on it? I searched the internet, but all hits lead me back to 321's Home Page.

I saw the demo they put on at the 321 conference, and I used it here at home.
I only took a couple pics and made a simple movie, didn't even burn it to disk.
From what I have seen it is a great product and going to get better.
I know they talked about adding a second audio track and the ability to import video clips.
I would recommend it highly.

I saw the preview at the conference as well, and I have a copy of XShow. I just haven't got all of my digital photos ready to start working with yet. I hope to start playing with this software in the next week or so.
I am very excited about this piece of software, I believe XShow and XMaker could be used together to put together some very cool DVD's for weddings and family compilations.

I am glad I am starting to get some feedback. Thank all of you who have responded. stric9, when you finally start playing with it could you please post your results? Also, does the program take care of the physical burn, after the slideshow is setup, or is another program required to burn the files to DVD?

The program can export the slideshow to a DVD or to the XMaker program. You will not need Nero or such programs to burn your slideshow to a DVD. I will post results as soon as I have worked with the software.

I bought DVDXSHOW before it came out. I am not as excited about now that I own it. It is very straight forward and even has a tuturial at the very begining like that of DVDXCOPY had in its early stages.
I Have contacted support but have not heard back from them in over a week. It seems they are very busy with platiums release.
The program (at least) on my computer locks up when I add an uncompressed WAV file for the background music. And it seems not to support text or subtitles, which I am disapointed about.
If 321 is able to fix a few cliches then this would and should be a very good and user friendly program and I will be excited once again!

I can't get dvd x show to work. Whenever I open it I have a message that says.... Failure Initializing CLayered Image(). Anyone have any ideas. I tried to call tech support but their solutions didn't work. I redownloaded and reinstalled the program and have Windows XP with sp1. I can't use it.

So far the initial feedback does not look to good to me. There have been no firm posts on sucessful and continous usage of this program.

I've kicked the tires on this program, and what it does, it does very well. The implementation of pan and zoom on the stills is very easy and intuitive, and the results are impressive.
On the other hand, I was disappointed to see that adding narration is NOT included in the program - the help files basically tell you to record narration using Microsoft's Sound Recorder, and then paste it into the slide show. Considering that the web site product description clearly stated "Add narration and music", I feel that the exclusion of this feature was deceiving.
The software does perform the burn as well, and my sample disc worked well.
I just wish that the output could be exported into an mpeg file for use in other programs to include titling and menus. The only export option they offer is into DVD X Maker, but I really don't want to buy yet another authoring package to add menus when I have one that I like (and paid a lot of money for!)
My hope is that 321 will continue to add features to this promising start of a slide show program.

Daddax,
I did find a mpeg file inside dvdxshow. If you look where the file is stored on your computer you should find several folders. Among these folders are, Cache, dvd video/aduido, and others. Look in media and you should find your slide show in a de-muxed stage. In this stage you will have an audio file and a video file.
I think this is only produced when you choose the setting "save to hard drive". Also the video file is in a M2V formate but is not hard to change to a regular MPEG file exe.
I have also left a few e-mail requests for adding subtitles to the slide show, but have not recieved an answer yet.
I have already bult the subtitle file with anouther program but I need to know how to incorporate it into the build and burn process that dvdxshow produces.
Hopefully tech support will let me know how to do this.

Thanks for the feedback re: future enhancements. Now I have something new to look forward to.
And McDoogel, I'll look for those cached files the next time I can sit down and play.

I want to thank all of you who have responded. After reading all the posts I have decided that SHOW is not what I want. I have purchased another slideshow program that has a lot of features that I like. My impression of SHOW is that it seems like another beta release. Not enough info and advertised features that are not ready for prime time. That, and the on going problems with Patinum are keeping me away. When I buy a package I want to feel like it is ready for sale and not experimental.

But in the program that you bought can you PAN around inside the pictures making them look like they are video like X Show does?

No. But it has over two dozen different styles plus makes it very easy to add music. The pan and scan were as important to me as the special effects that this program allows.

Sorry to hear that you went to the other program. I made a really cool slideshow last night with XShow, and I integrated it with XMaker. In the end, I am afraid that your software may stay about the same, but 321 will always be improving XShow to add better features and functionality. Good luck.

Yeah, I think there are good slide show programs out there, but as for what X Show does, I have seen nothing.
If all you want is a cool slide show, well thats cool, but the Pan feature is what this is all about.
I can't imagine doing a slide show of mykids any other way now, X Show is awesome.
Thanks for the liberty Mr.Roberts, thanks for the liberty.

I have just started using this program and truely enjoy it. This is the first slide show editor that I was able to do a smooth pan and zoom and it has great impact. There certainly are additional features that would be nice to have, narative, subtitles, export to MPEG.
My workaround for the "no export" issue is to save to a dvd - RW then using an authoring tool retrieve the slide show and add it to a project with other video and a menu.

msobetzko,
That's why you need XMaker. I have done exactly that. You can import your slideshow directly into XMaker to include video and a menu on one DVD.
