Forget Best Buy. As usual, the on-sale media are not in stock and NO rainchecks. Plenty of other brands for nearly twice the price, however.

Worked for me here in N.E. OK.

As they say, "your mileage may vary."

Yeah, Best Buy is kind of crappy when it comes to carrying sale items or having enough in stock. I just order them from their web site and don't have to worry about going into their store and finding empty shelves. Shipping is free too and 99.9% of the time the product is in stock.

I have yet to see any bulk DVD+RW at BestBuy. I have been buying there 50 PK Fuji +R, but would like to find a source for +RW.

While in Tulsa with a friend I went in SAM'S and purchased a 15pk of Verbatim DVD+RW for $30.99.

SAM'S stocks & sells whatever comes in on that day's trucks, don't expect them have the same items in stock all the time.

I'd like to find a 5pk of Ritek or Princo 2.4x or 4x DVD+R for a decent price and free shipping just to try. Seems you have to buy large quantities of these to get a break on price.

all as to the yesbuy.com site:

they have "updated their web page and the no shipping is only on three specific items, all happen to be generic -R/RW over 25 pieces.

so for +RW the Oneacer "100 Leda +RW for $179, including shipping", is once again King!

I was looking at the "oneacer special" on the shop 4 tech site when i saw the following
http://www.shop4tech.com/user.htm?go=view_item&id=1612&cata=1&s_cata=88

does any one have any info on OPTODISC +RW ?
(do not confuse with optIdisc)
i save .10 cents a disc if i switch to that brand . oneacer...would you consider switching to optodisc +rw on your next shop for tech order? to save 10.00? security, gijoe, dexter, and others have you used this brand? i see shop for tech just started to carry it.

Hi abacabman,
I just spotted that myself on the Optodisk +RW at shop4tech.com. That is a brand that I have not tried yet. The Leda have worked flawless, but in the future I may try a 25 pack to see how they work. All in all, I have to say I have not come across a bad media yet, although I have not tried Princo or Optodisc yet. I have been backing up for awhile now and see the prices edging down on this +RW media, except the big names like Verbatum and Memorex somehow are still in the clouds. I guess selling DVD media is not a priority for them.

Abacabman, I have used Optodisc media, but not the + format. I've used the -R format in my Panasonic DMR recorder and had good luck with them. However, the last batch I bought were terrible and I was only able to use 8 out of the 50. Someone else on the forum stated that they also had problems with the -R format recently from Optodisc and that there were inconsistencies in the burn side. I would say buy a pack and see how they work for you because except for the last batch they seem to have worked ok for me. Let us know if you order them and how they worked, as I might be interested in using their +R in my computer drive.

Abacabman:

No, I've not used Optodisc +RWs. However, I've had excellent results with their -Rs. Also, I'll give you a report on my results on their +RWs because I've just purchased a 50Pk +RWs and a 50Pk (@ 0.89ea)of Leda -Rs from Shop4Tech. As long as the -Rs are between 0.75 and 0.99 cents each, I'l go for 'em.

Hello all, ive been traveling topless (laptop less that is)
Looks like I missed a few posts. First way to go guys for bringing up the
Topic of “price matching” can we get a list of stores that match each other’s prices?
I think it was RWG that reminded us of that? RWG any other info? Price matching sounds fun!
GIJOE more Fuji +r great I use em too with no problem. : ABACABMAN: I have used
Optima discs but not optOdisc. I looked around and found the following link. Reading the link I notice someone with some problems using the discs on his Toshiba player.
I think this was a software thing that was fixed in an xcopy update and may not have been media related as the thread is from 2002 November http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/11094
SERIOUS, (Ben) you get any +rw yet? Going to try the shop 4 tech site or did you get the imations at 40% off at best buy? Any news on the optodiscs aba was asking about anyone?
I also came across this article relating to Fuji cdr media and I wonder if it applies to DVD media. Does any one have the tool that reads blank discs and reports the stats?
I hear there is a program you can download that tells you all about the disc once you insert it in the tray.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/20781

And hey abacab here’s the biggest problem I have heard about with optodisc
(a cut and paste from a member)
"dbminter Member:I use Optodiscs. I haven't found anything else, cheaply, that won't cause periodic U11 loads on Panasonic's DMR-E20 when inserted. My only problem with them is the Optodiscs' blue label surface. It's coated with something that prevents most markers from leaving a solid mark on it. I've only found a certain Maxell brand of CD/DVD marker that writes on it, and then only if pressed lightly.

Looking at the date of his post maybe they have a better writeable surface now? Message him and ask. let us know if you get them and how well they work ok?
I’m still using up my Imation and Fuji (also I never use my last 3-4 discs so in case I ever get a good copy and burn, but wont PLAYBACK error free (rare) I can swap media brands, and try again as the player maybe media sensitive (looks like I have tried over a dozen dif brands and some +rw too. im very interested in a software tool as I mentioned above because id love to find out who actually makes these discs no matter what the label says.
And last but not least ..FREE CASES ..100 slimline jewel cases for dvd/cd at office max this week (with rebate) now I gotta go kill off some fujis. ONEACER..have you made a decision on if the optodiscs will be your new “trademark” do they have a sample pak of opto and leda?
(others i will return your email and pm messages probably tomorrow. im on a limited time frame today)

hey security,

no i have not tried any new +RW, im a chicken!
Seen too many posts about guys crying over burnt toast(ers) and i just dont wanna be one of em ;)
none of the cheaper deals offer trial size packs.
i mean who wants to buy a 50+pack of maybe, cross-my-fingers, okay media. i mean if i am going to spend that much on something i will throw away i'd rather spend it on my new son's pampers;-)
im going to bestbuy tomorrow and pick up some tried and true FUJI+R 50 pack(2.4X)for $70, that's not bad at all, i paid $130+tx for 100 TDK+R(4X)!
im down to my last 10, when i grow a pair, i'll go and try at least a 50 pack of the lesser name brand +RW, still dont have a clue as to which though:-)
until then
one happy(my son is starting to sleep through the night)dad,
ben

Why are you chicken to try +rw's? That doesn't make any sense. The deal with +rw's is that you can use 1,000's of times. They are re-writable. That's why we call them coaster insurance.

If you get a failed burn, you can burn over again, and again, and again.

Or are you saying its more of a media/player compatibility issue?

spidey...
hey whats up?
why are you burning coasters?

I have backed up about 200 movies, give or take a few. and i have an 8 piece coaster collection;). Most of these were my fault, either tried burning when my pc was on all day or, i didnt try a RW on a problem disk.

any way let us know what probs you got and someone on this here forum will know how or know who to fix it.

one happy dad,
ben

security, just checked out which programs will tell you the make and speed of your media, found a couple but not sure i can list their names here in our forum, so i'll pm you.
