Hi,

New poster here and newbie to all this information on this site. I received the DRU-510 as a B-Day gift and just installed it to my puter. My question is what is a good blank DVD media to use on my burner (ie. compatibility, price, brand, website to buy, and type (ie. dvd-r, +r, rw etc...). Any help in layman terms will be greatly appreciated.

System I am running:

Asus P4S8X Moboard
intel 2.43 cpu
visiontek xtasy 9100 128 MB video card
512 memory
sony dru-510
maddog dvd-rom

One problem answering that question. Some media work better on some players than others. The best thing to do is get a 'sample' pack of blanks and see for yourself what works best for you.

That said, a lot of people have had great success burning on Accu and Princo blanks with that burner. Emtec and KHypermedia seem to have a very high failure rate with it, so best to do a very limited trial with that media, if at all.

Several good places to buy online. Try these for starters:
Meritline.com
Shop4Tech.com
Rima.com
