Using DXC 1.5.2 I backed up discs 1 and 2 of From the Earth to the Moon to two discs each without any problem. Disc 3 is giving me trouble. First of all DXC sees only 12 chapters and suggests splitting before chapter 1. It then assigns 0.06GB to the first disc and 3.81 GB to the second disc. After reading the original, it writes the first disc (only 81MB) in a minute or so and then returns an error message. I dont have the error message handy.

I have an AMD powered XP2000 running at 1.6GHz with 512MB RAM and 70GB available HDD and XP Home. My burner is Sony DRU510A and I have backed up many other movies using DXC and DXCX.

In another thread 321_Q/A had written the following some time in April: "I have done all of From Earth to the moon, except for, I think, disk 3. I'd have to check to make sure exactly which disk gave me problems, but one of them still will."

Is this still a problem and is there a solution?

Did you try changing the split point? Otherwise there is still a problem with many episodiscs. The problem is still being worked on by 321 programmers.

xgasman, the disc has 2 title sets with 12 chapters each. DXC sees only one titleset on this disc. I did try changing the split point, but nothing looked right.

Did you check out the thread PROBLEMS WITH EPISODISCS for possible answer?

xgasman, I did read that thread. Someone else reported a similar problem with disc 1 (though that disc worked fine for me!). I wonder if 321_Q/A tried backing up disc 3? He wrote in another thread that he had trouble with that disc.

I had the same problem with backing up disc #3, the rest had no troubles.

I talked w 321_QA & he verified the problem exists.

I don't think we will be able to back it up until Platinum comes out.

btw,
Due to the way the discs are backed up, I ended up putting them in 3 double disc cases & 1 single disc case. I worked with someone on DVDCOVERART.COM & they designed 4 custom case covers. They should be up there in a week or two, check it out if interested.

mwillet, Thanks for your message. I got a PM from 321_Q/A confirming that disc 3 is still a problem. In terms of cases I did exactly the same as you (two double cases - I haven't backed up disc 3), and I downloaded the standard cover art from dvdcoverart and made custom covers for the three sets using Photoshop. I shall take a look at your version of the custom art next week. Thanks again.
