Pioneer Has Joined the Club of adding +R/+RW to their *NEW* burner DVR-106 D.

All Media Outlet has it for $285.00 U.S.

Jaybo,
They also released the A06. I still haven't grasped the difference between the DVR 106 and the A06.

conrad,
the AO6,AO5,AO4 etc. is a retail piece with full warranty (usually 12 mos.), R & RW discs, asst. software, etc. the 106,105,104 etc. is a OEM "white box" piece intended for manufacturers and/or resellers. the box usually contains only the drive & normally only a 90 day warr.white boxes generally save you $20-$40.
i normally dont mind "white boxes" but in the case of dvd-burners i recommend retail only....IMHO

waysherr,
So the drive is exactly the same and the only difference in the model numbers is how they market it?

Thanks for that info! I feel better now.

conrad,
one thing i forgot. the "white boxes" are the ones supplied to cendyne, etc. & might have slightly different firmware but otherwise are identical.

The Pioneer Axx series has the Pioneer logo on the front of the drive. The 1xx series is the aftermarket version. It has no Pioneer logo on the front. I use an A04 myself. I have had no problems with it since purchase and would not hesitate to purchase another Pioneer DVD Burner if I needed one
