Hi guys,
I'm reading thru the Sony guide for the
500AX.It lists several software programs
that I can use if I wish. However from reading this sight,I have learned that
I should not use the DLA.But what about
their other choices like :
Record Now DX
Veritas Simple back up
My DVD
Music match ( juke box )
Power dvd(I got this with Sony dvd rom)
Question # 1)------------- Since I have a Sony dvd rom and burner as well as Nero 5.5.10.35 are ANY of the above
programs NECESSARY when I use x-copy or express ?
Question # 2)I downloaded INCD from Nero before I read here that I shouldn't have.
However I have not formatted it to start up
when a disk is inserted. Is that ok or must
it be totally removed from my system.AND
is INCD required if I want to use Nero burning rom when using it with x-copy or exp?
I would really be happy if someone could answer both of my questions because I want to do the right thing and not heve to be
back here bitching about x-copy not working
when it's really something stupid that I did.
Thank you for any help that you can provide.
P.S.the only thing that I want to do is burn dvd's.Not make cd's or anyhting that
smart computer people do.

Athlon XP2000+
Maxtor 60gb @7200 rpm.
Apacer 512MB DDR266
GeForce2 MX400 64MB

Lots of questions, lets see if I can get them all.

The programs that came with your DRU500 are all OK to install except the DLA software. They are not necessary to install, but the PowerDVD is a good program. I have installed all the software except the DLA that came with my DRU500 and have had no problems. For the fun of it, I even installed the DLA and had no problems. Removed it later since I really had no need for it.

INCD is not required in order to use Nero. Since you have downloaded it with no problems, don't worry. These programs do NOT cause problems with everyone, just in some circumstances. I have several burning programs installed without a conflict. I just don't ever let anything start up automatically when the computer boots up.

Try using the built in burning software that comes with DVDXCopy and Xpress. If it works on your computer, you will find that the discs seem to be read on a lot larger variety of stand alone players. Nero seems to be a little touchier on what players it will work on.

For some people though, Nero is the only viable option. Some cannot get the built in burning programs to work on their computers, others cannot get their stand alone players to play the disc unless they burn with Nero.
