I have read a few messages about some having problems with labels on the DVD. Has anyone else had success or problems with it? I would like to add labels but do not want to mess up the DVD.

thanks

I would never add a label to a dvd, there is too big of a chance that it would render the dvd unplayable and harm the player.

In fact, I have three dvd players and playing a dvd with a label voids the warranty on all three. I only use a marker on the dvd.

There are thin no wobble labels, specifically
made for dvd. I never had a problem with these.

You will have to look in the side index:

I always use labels on my back-ups and never had a problem (though I'm real careful putting them on and make sure to get all the air bubbles out). I use the matte ones but prefer the glossy's since they are thinner and look better. Problem is I can't find glossy's at any local retailer, just the mattes (find them at Wal-Mart).

Hi,
I just use the fine point Sharpie on my back-ups. I have each one in a special slim soft plastic double case (from Rima.com) and I put the label and synopsis on the case and not the disk. Works real great. I sure don't need to waste time or money and chance that the disk won't play by putting a label on it, after all, it is only a back-up for my own use.

Phillips DVD+RW-D01 (burner)
Sony DVP-NS715P (stand alone player)

InterActual Player (soft PC player)

Did anybody try to use those center hub labels? See: http://www.surething.com/ST/Category.asp?CatCode=CD_HUB_LABELS or http://www.labelgear.com/LG/Product.asp?ProdCode=20006-21116

I have seen several public libraries using those for identification purposes. I never had a problem playing (library) disks that were labeled that way. Yes, there is barely enough space to title the movie but it surely looks better than marker.

No problems with labels here. I'm using the "matte" labels which are thinner than the glossy ones. They look drab but look semi profressional tho.

taz291819 & cheezzzz:

Wish you guys would get together. Which is thinner, matte or glossy?

oneacer:

Keep an eye on your InterActual Player. I'm told it can interfere with functioning DX software. I've deleted mine and am now using the BSplayer from K++lite and their codecs. The thing plays everything!

FWIW: labels, I use the CD/DVD writing pens from Staples. The ink isn't suppose to degrade or damage the disc data. I've been alerted that Sharpie et al pens use an ink that may damage the disc data over time.

MOD:

Please notice, I could've used three (3) posts here but I'm not a post Lizard.

The ones I got from a sample pack were the opposite. The matte's were thicker. But since I only used the 3 glossy's that were from the sample pack, I would go with chezzzz on this.

I suggest using the stomper pro. It's installer is well built & puts the labels on perfectly!
I have labeled every one of my backups and have'nt had any problems. Put the disc on the rubber back side of the installer and work out air bubbles.(if there are any). It works great!
