I have gotten several as listed from M$ and also others coming from elsewhere. Seems the attachment is almost always a .pif...don't open it...and make sure your anti-virus is running and up-to-date.

security:
FWTW, Microsoft's notifications come in the form of automatic updates as denoted by the small "world" icon in your task bar. Once you click on it, MS provides specific security information relative to the hazard. Depending on how you set your updates, i.e. whether on auto or if manual, you simply click on the world icon and your computer will start to download the MS data. (Of course you must be online to receive and implement the MS notices) Then, it will request your permission to install the new downloaded security data.
Re: the MS e-mail worm notification. As previously stated, it's bogus and the attachment is the w32.HLL.Mankx@mm Worm contained in the bogus e-mail: Support@MS.com and refers to "application.pif"
If you receive any such notification, by all means DELETE it immediately. Also, for any of you who frequent K++Lite or KaZaa beware for these additional worms: w32.Bugbear.B@mm contained in this file - budgnotestemp.rtf.zlo and w32kwbot.c.worm contained in this file 1055129409688343.dat.
I hope this enlightens and helps your understanding of this worm business. LOL :)
