Is anybody having problems viewing on Window Player 9.0 the copies made on xpress? I have the lastest edition of Windows players but could only view the original movies and not the copies. Power DVD works fine though.

install the divx codec 5.0.5. My WMP plays everything I try on my PC. Dont know if the Divx thing helps much, but after I installed that awhile back, I can play any file damn near ;)

Did you go through help in wmp9 and check for updates. That way will get any codecs you may need for it to work. My wmp9 wouldn't play xpress backups until I opened wmp9 and checked for updates going trough help in the app.

Arthur,

When installing WMP9, your DirectX filters may have gotten cleared out. Since WMP does not include it's own DVD playback software, it will normall try to borrow from a software player like PowerDVD or WinDVD. You might want to uninstall, then reinstall PowerDVD. This will re-assign your DirectX Filters for MPEG2 playback, and you should be able to play again.

although personally, I much prefer the less bloated PowerDVD interface (I am a major 6 channel buff, so the sound options are my fav...)

basically, WMP is just sticking PowerDVD into it's own interface.

Thanks for the information. But I think I'm one step ahead of you. I unitstalled and then installed PowerDVD and even upgraded the patch, and I still have that problem? Without PowerDVD windows media asks for a decoder but with Power DVD it doesn't ask as I can play the orginal movie but not the express copy?

Arthur,

Can you play home-authored discs in WMP still? Does this affect all burned DVDs, or jsut ones made in XCopy/Xpress?

I had heard that MS was implementing some DRM stuff, maybe this is a symptom?

Hi,
Anything I burn with DVD copy and express will not work on the WVP. Only the original works. I also had

<edited by 321_Q/A for content or violation of rules> It wasn't a bad one, but I had to remove it. Sorry man..

I buned from that and the copy works on WMP. Prior to upgrading to WVP 9.0 I had the old version and that worked fine with DVD copy and Express. So it's the version 9.0 that's causing the problems. Everything else works on the WMP.
Did I answer your question??
