well i'm still getting a runtime 1337 error with 1.5.2 like 1.5. 1.41 still works fine, but i can't even launch the newer vers.
i am getting a Run Time error when i try to launch vers 1.5/1.5.2 of DVD X Copy. It says a conflicting application is running and gives me error code 1337. This did not happen with vers 1.4 of DVD X copy. I removed the old version through control panels before i loaded 1.5./1.5.2

I have the same problem - it started with the 1.5 upgrade. I run XP home ver. I bypass the problem by booting up and immediately starting x copy. If I wait until my sys tray finishes loading I get the error. The conflict is something that is loading at startup but I can't find it. Have tried getting rid of all sys tray loads using msconfig but it must be something that is hidden.

Try downloading a trial version of System Mechanic. I find it superior to msconfig in managing what is loaded at startup.

Well i tried system mechanic and i deleted a couple of startup items that were unfamiliar and i also deleted a bunch of invalid registry entries but none of that stopped my runtime error problem. I also tried launching DXC after a reboot but my system tray load immediately and i have no time to launch DXC.
Any other ideas? I hope the next update/upgradewill address this issue since vers 1.41 works fine it must be a new line of code in 1.5/1.5.2

I'll try system mechanic and post result. FYI - I did contact support about this and they inquired as to what other authoring programs I had on my machine (Nero and ULead 7 for me). I gave them that info but never heard back.

The runtime 1337 error means that another program is conflicting with DXC.
Anyone who is getting that same runtime 1337 error, please take some screenshots of the programs listed in your Add/Remove Programs section of your Control Panel, and send them along with your system specs to bugs@dvdxcopy.com.
That will help us track down what program is causing the problem.

Has anyone resolved the 1337 issue yet? I've been in contact with the Support Engineers.. Sent copies of my startup files, screesnshots of Add/Remove programs etc... Stripped my system of all prorams loading at startup..
Still no joy.. I am convinced that this is either a driver or a System Service but I'll be damned if I know which one...
Anyone have any luck?

Ballzo,
We have been moving away from thinking that the problem is a software conflict, and more along the lines of what you're thinking.
We think that we're getting close to figuring out what is happening.
We now think that the 1337 error is being caused by a driver or hardware conflict.
This has really just come about in the past few days, and largely as a result of the screenshots and info that all of you sent in.
So now, what we want to do is have everyone who is receiving the 1337 error to send in a list of all of your hardware.
Once we start receiving there reports, I'm pretty sure that the will get it straightened out.

Same error 1337 conflicting application running when starting DVD Xpress 2.0.1 Tried disabling all of startup items and removed drag to disk CD by Roxio. Using XP Pro rebooted, still same error 1337?

Hold on to your gym shorts here... I may have stumbled across a fix for the 1337 Error issue.. Maybe... Fingers crossed:
I downloaded the new Version of DVDVCE 2.1
I had already unistalled 2.0, which never worked anyway. Install was successful. My first attempt at program execution failed, as usual with the 1337 Error. I rebooted after initial install.
I right-clicked on the DVDXCE icon on the desktop. Click on Properties/Compatibilty. Check "Run This Program in Compatibilty Mode"
and select either Windows 95 or Windows 98/ME.
It works!!!! Selecting it to run in Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 Mode produces the same 1337 Error message. Strange...
Only problem is...... I could not get the damn thing activated. I selected "Activate by Phone." Talked with a live rep who generated a new license code and password.. We tried umpteen different combinations and it simply would not activate. Finally we gave up.
At this point I do not know if the failed activation is related to running in Compatibility Mode ot not.. My hunch is no..
I'll find out more tomorrow when I phone 321 Support to see if they can get me going.. If they can, then problem solved.. If not...
Back to the drawing boards... maybe one step closer however...
Good Luck,
Ballzo

Well I can confirm that if you set the shortcut compatabilty option to Win95/98 the program starts and I could activate online successfully.
Only problem is once you try and start the program you get a "XPress.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows" error message, ao I cant actually start the program.

Yes i too can launch express or 1.5.2 when setting the compatibility to windows 98 only problem is in express all i get is the splash screen at he start of the program then nothing else, it does'nt even show up on ctrl/alt/del. I do get a message when i am closing windows that express is going to be
ended but i cannot use express for anything. it's now been well over a month since we've had this damn 1337 problem, is there any hope for a fix or should we switch to another program? I'm getting frustrated for one.

If you are for whatever reason having to run the app in compatibility mode you may need to disable dr watson from debugging on startup of the app. To do this remove this key from reg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug Make a backup first and let me know if this helps.

I don't enough about backing up and restoring the registry so i don't think i'll try this. But express also does the disappearing act if i run windows in safe mode.

Probably should not say too much, but several of us are working closely with Softwarekey
engineers to get this issue/Error 1337 straightened out. The process is rather complex but already progress has been made.. If all goes well this should be resolved soon... We'll get back to work on this tomorrow..

There should be a new version of DVDXCE released this week.. We've tested so many files trying to track this down. Currently, with me, we've solved the 1337 error, but I was never able to successfully register. That will take a new version.. We made alot of progress.. the new version WILL solve the 1337 error message... So we'll all be patient..

Ballzo
