Is there some information on what changes are incorporated in Ver. 1.5.2? What issues that Ver. 1.5 had that 1.5.2 corrected, etc.

Thanks!

Here is what is supposed to be improved:

DVD X Copy Version 1.5.2

Dear DVD X Copy Customer,

DVD X Copy Version 1.5.2 is now available. Please uninstall any previous versions of DVD X Copy before installing version 1.5.2.

New features in version 1.5.2 include:
====================================
* Fixed International activation issues.
* Fixed many read problems that produced the “Error Reading Source Disc” message.
* Drive support has been improved. Many drives that were supported in version 1.4.1 and not in version 1.5.0 should now be supported once again.
* Better external burner support.
* Fixed some bugs that caused DVD X Copy to close improperly.

Installing DVD X Copy:
=======================================
Before installing any version of DVD X Copy, please remove earlier versions by following these steps:

1) Open Control Panel and double-click on Add/Remove Programs
2) Select DVD X Copy
3) Click Change/Remove

You may now start the install of DVD X Copy by double-clicking the installation file.

Because we have made several changes to the licensing system, you may be asked to re-activate DVD X Copy if you are using a version prior to 1.5.0.

We have enhanced our online product support and FAQ database located at http://support.321studios.com/.

And as always, you can contact us at http://support.321studios.com/.

Thanks,

Thanks dengar
I downloaded and installed it. I have yet to get the email from them. I used add/remove and then deleted the 321 folder that was left in program files. Rebooted and then installed 1.5.2 and rebooted again. I've tried it and it works great so far.

No problem. As far as the emails go, one of Robert's posts said the emails would go out in the next 48 hours.

Post back when you're done with the burn, let me know what settings you burned with (gear, nero,etc..) and tell me how it played in your player. Pretty please!

Also let us know if you had any issues with 1.5 and if 1.5.2 solved any of them for you.

Thanks Dude!

I have already experimented with a couple of DVD's that worked with 1.5. So far so good!

dengar,
I have 3 Sony stand alone players: a 315, 655 and a home theater receiver/amp/dvd combo unit. The 315 and the 655 plays +-R and +-RW with gear and with external nero with and without UDF checked. The home theater used to play just +RW using gear and now its playing +R with gear and nero. I haven't tried Nero UDF yet. The only problem that I had with 1.5 was on a 2 disk backup. At the end of disk 1 it would just stop with a black screen with no "please insert disk 2" splash screen. That probably had something to do with the bad split point that some of the users were having. That seems to have been fixed in 1.5.2.
I have to say that this program has come a long way since 1.2.2

dengar - just backed up on a +R, Whisperer's fav, Sneakers, with 1.5.2 and am currently playing it back on my Toshiba SD4700 and looks fine. Went with Gear, as usual, but will try Nero later. As indicated by Conrad, the Uninstall routine does not dump the 321 folder and it was removed manually. Happy to say, just like with 1.4.1, 1.5, and now 1.5.2, I've personally encountered no difficulty sliding up to a new version.

WEEeeeell,

Uninstalled V1.5 installed V1.5.2..

I achieved no better compatibility ie, Media to standalones. The functions were smooth, no hangs.

I also tested with Nero, same old same old. No problems with integration,or funtions.

I'm standing neutral on this one.

Media tested with Ritek 2x -R and Princo 1x -R

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. Here's two questions that I have and if I get a couple of satisfactory answers, I'll probably take the plunge:

1)For those who lost Nero compatiblity in 1.5, did you regain it with 1.5.2.

2)On a two disk burn, does 1.5.2 truely split the movie at a chapter point, not somewhere close to the chapter point?

stollery-

I have never had one problem with gear either, and I also was able to back up Sneakers with no problem. I think whisperer just has a bad disk.

I also wanted to add that just like previous versions, those who want to upgrade should
1) uninstall from add/remove programs
2) go to progran files and delete the 321 folder
3) reboot the computer
4) install 1.5.2

Jaybo
Did you have Nero compatibility with 1.5?

denger,

I have four DVD standalones, I can achieve 3 out of 4 machines media compatibility if I use plus R media using Nero. The same with gear and +R media.

If I use -R media the ratio goes to 1 out of 4, both Nero and Gear.

Yes is the answer for V1.5

Hope this helps you.

Good Luck,
Jaybo

I have had good luck with the 1.5.2 using GEAR drivers, Sony DRU AX, SHOP 4 TECH media type: +R,-R,+RW,and -RW. All play fine on Phillips DVD changer and Samsung table top player as well. Procedured used: Uninstalled 1.5, Shut system down, waited 20 seconds, restarted and loaded 1.5.2,then repeated shut-down and start up. Works great!

dengar - just backed up with Nero. I'll be darned. Nero AND Gear work. Good work 321.
Won't be able to get to the chapter point issue for a couple of days. Oh, +R and +RW with Nero and Gear play on all 4 of my units. I think we're going in the right direction here.

Thanks for the info, but it doesn't help me. I lost all Nero compatibility with 1.5. The sure fire test for me is my PS2. It played everyting with 1.3.1., +rw/r, -rw/r with Nero or Gear.

stollery
That is good news indeed my friend! All right, you talked me into it. I get off work in about 20 minutes. I'll go home and upgrade.

unistalled 1.5,cleaned registry, installed 1.5.2.used my test movie (Maximum Overdrive)rip is fine, when it starts to burn, the buffer fluctuates between 0% and 96% on a 2X -RW. buffer stays at 96% on 1X -RW. playback seems ok on both but I just watched the opening credits on them so far. 1.5 did this also but only on 4X media.

dpsmith - yes, after you remove 1.5 via add/remove, remove the 321 folder and reboot. Install 1.5.2. Reboot.

""I STILL NEED HELP WITH DISC SKIP FEATURE !! ""

we told you over on the 1.5 thread what it's for ... did you miss reading it?

Recordable media will not hold 4.7GB; max is 4.39GB and, for chapter splits, you should try to stay even lower than that in case DXC gives you an erroneous size read out.

Best regards

Hi all. I just upgraded to 1.5.2., so here goes.
1) Install went flawless.
2) No longer need to push play to view the preview, I like that.(That annoying "is this a frickin' rental" dialogue is still present though)
3) 1.5.2. still is not spliting at the chapter point. For example, DXC wants to default split Black Hawk Down at chapter 14, but it actually splits it at 1:20:09 while chapter 14 starts at 1:12:23. Once I adjust the default split DXC split BHD right at 1:12:23.
4) Nero compatibility; I burned BHD and Rounders, each with Nero and I did not check UDF on +rw's. I still have no compatibility on my PS2, but I have regained compatibility on my GE 1101P. Tomarrow I will take a chance and try to burn to some Accu -r's with Nero, both with and without UDF just to exhaust all possible combinations. I'll also try Gear, but Gear has never failed me (knock on wood).
5) I had a problem with 1.5.2. at the burn screen ejecting the +rw and then saying that there was no media present. I would re-insert the disk, then it would get kicked out again. On the third attempt on each dvd DXC finally accepted my +rw. I've never had this happen before, and I don't know what could cause it.

My preliminary conclusion; 1.5.2. is okay, I give it an A-/B+. I didn't lose anything, and I gained a little compatibility.

I reserve my final conclusion for tomarrow.

Apparently no changes in the recognition of episodics. Fawlty Towers The Complete Collection still not properly recognized.

I'll give this version a try for a while, but it doesn't seem to include major changes.
