I am one of those the preordered DVD X Copy and am suppose to be getting Express and Plantinum free but even though it is obivious that some have already downloaded Express I can't find where I can. I went to my support page and only 1.5.2 and previous ver 1.4.1 are available for download and then on the main page I see Express for sale. How do I go about being able to download Express?

Backed up the new Harry Potter with no problems at all. I can't really see the difference between it and the original!
How does this all work? How does it determine what level of compression to use? Does it use "just enough" or does it vary according to need? There is no info I can find on this new app. It's a black box, as far as a user is concerned? Is there any manual yet?

So far I have backed up "Back to the Future I", "Spiderman", "Harry Potter 2", "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" and I have to say they look great. Had a "no audio" problem that has been fixed in the 2nd beta release.
I had been using

for a while now and I have to say that the quality of the xpress video looks BETTER than either of those programs.
Great work 321! If Platinum does what they say it will, we are going to be in great shape! Hopefully platinum will allow the "xpress" compression on episodic disks (that would be too cool).

All,
XPRESS is NOT designed to do episodic disks.
It does do a few of them though, due to how they are made. If the episodic DVD consists of one main titleset with chapters for each episode, then they will most likely work well.
It is also not designed for "Extras" disks.
Those disks usually contain smaller bits of info in each titleset, so what you get is usually a tiny piece of the extras, not the whole extras disk.
XPRESS IS designed to backup the main titleset of the movie compressing it to fit onto one disk. You will have chapters, but you WILL NOT have chapters, or menus.
Think of XPRESS as a way of getting just the version (widescreen, fullscreen) language, and subtitles that you want on one DVD without all of the extras that I personally never use anyway.

Just curious about the Widescreen and Fullscreen option. Does it make a widescreen movie full screen ? Does that compromise on the video quality ??

Can't get past the disclaimer when playing a backup in the DVD player in my GMC Envoy. Backup will play fine in my home DVD player though.
Any suggestions? I have used DVD Bitsetter to set the book type to DVD-ROM.

It seems that there are quite a few purchasers/users that should be able to get their copy of Express for free, but have been unable to find it or download it. I am one of those people. I have NOT seen any answer to these people. Could someone just answer the very simple question; Where can we download Express? Thanks. Best wishes to 321 for some grest products.
I am using DVDXCopy version 1.2.1. (Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it)

SUNCR: Go to http://www.dvdxcopy.com and click on the support tab at the top. The rest should be self explanatory.
321 or Mr. Moore - it looks like Xpress has been released- does that mean the beta testers should not send in any more reports? (while on that subject, thanks for allowing me to be a beta tester, it was very exciting!)

mikemary,
That is correct. We have ended the XPRESS Beta Tester Program, so we will not need any more reports at this time.
I'll check to see if we may be able to keep using that means of reporting problems though, as it seemed to work out pretty well as a gauge to allow us see if things are working well or not for a slice of the "real world users", and if they weren’t, what was happening.
Also, we (321 Studios) want to thank you, and all of the Beta Testers for a job well done! We really appreciate all of your help and detailed reports!

whompus,
I think that's a good idea. I'll pass that along to the developers as an enhancement request, and they will take a look at it and see if it's something that they can do.

I have done a few backups with xpress now and have had no problems. I did the walk through at the site for the beta testers so you guys got the results of them. I do however have a sugestion. That is to maybe give us a bit of control in the options as to what size the final outcome for the movie should be. The reason for this is there is a stress factor that comes into play with some disks and not others. So by the final outcome size being set at max for a blank with the stressed disks that will cause the issue that orgazmo has. Where he could stop that problem with the ability to go into the options drop down and say for instance select the size to be 4300 instead 4474 or even maybe selecting like 4400 for some disks. I have ran into this in the past with compresing and making the disk size smaler does fix the problem.

toolman18,
No, the XPRESS BEta Tester Program ended yesterday with the release of the software.
If you missed the beta test, go and get the XPRESS Full Version.
<toolman18 wrote>
Is this still being Beta-Tested? 321 shows it can be downloaded on the supprt page,but instead I get this:
You are not eligible for the free download at this time.

cust20000,
Check the Power Settings for your computer and make sure to set the Monitor is set to turn off in like 2 hours and not 10 min (which is usually default, I think)
It sounds like you have the screensaver set to a longer period of time than your monitor is actually set to stay on while the system is idle.
<cust20000 wrote>
OK, I'm now ONE of those people that the program does not work for. This is happening on 1.5.2 as well as dvdexpress 2.0 When the burn almost gets to the end, past 90 percent, the screen goes black as if I had the screen saver on (but I don't). Then when I press any key, the program resumes but says it is canceling the burn. Using WIN XP SP1, 700+ meg RAM. (Was trying to copy Red Dragon) The earlier versions of DVDxcopy worked for me.

ssprinkle,
Yes, you should be able to run all of the 321 Studios Products on the same PC without having any problems with them conflicting with each other. That was a valid question that nobody has really asked up to this point..
<ssprinkle wrote>
Sorry for the stupid question (I know, I know, there are no stupid questions, just a lot of inquisitive idiots) but can someone please confirm I can run BOTH DVDXpress and DVDXCopy on my computer?"

drb,
LOL! That sounds like you had a heck of a time getting going. Sorry man!
Did you ever get that DTS problem straightened out?
<drb wrote>
"My first couple of installs of XPRESS I ran into some major conflicting issuses. While I could get xpress to burn sucessful, almost all other apps were dead. Every app resulted in "xxxx encounter a problem and needs to close" I could not even shutdown or restart the computer. I finally used "ENDITALL" to shutdown abosulty everything before installing express and this seemed to do the trick. The first movie "Gladitor" had no audio, that issuse was address in the 2nd beta release and work perfectly after on the second try. Since then I've burned 4 movies, all with no problems and all with exception video quality. I have a pro. scan dvd and hdtv and did notice some slight arifacts, but not enough to not use express if I wanted/needed a one disc backup. One thing I did notice was there is no option too choose DTS soundtrack when one is avaiable. Ripping & compressing may be a little slower than DXC's just ripping time [average about 20 min for express} but the time is made up in just having to burn one disc. Overall this seems to be a great product and appears to work flawlessly.
Here is one huge problem I forgot: Backups made take significantly more time while I am trying to decide which program to use, DXC or DXCE"

terpfan80,
That is exactly right.
DXC is pretty well known so I won't go into the way it works.
XPRESS will take the main titleset, one audio and one video and compress them to fit onto one DVD with great quality.
Platinum will give you a lot of control over what you back-up. We are still working on all of the features, but it will be very cool, I assure you.
<terpfan80 wrote>
"nyplayer - I think what you are expecting is what will come in the Platinum edition of the s/w.
I take it as Xpress is designed to make a copy of the "movie only" with one audio track and possibly one captions track but which fits on one disc.
The original product "DVD X Copy" will allow for making full copies of originals, possibly on 2 discs if necessary (and copy episodics), including the original menus and all special materials (unless, in some cases, you make a backup on one disc without menus and special features).
The Platinum Edition is intended to allow for complete control over what will and won't be included in the copy, including multiple audio tracks (selectable) and/or multiple captions and other features like that.
Of course, 321 could clear this all up for us with a post soon :-)

terpfan80,
I have Top Gun here, so I will give that a try and see if I get the same result.
I'll let you know what I find out.
<terpfan80 wrote>
Confirmed again, Top Gun copies, but in Full Screen mode, not Wide Screen, even though I selected the option for Wide Screen and made it a default choice.

ireland,
Is it working like that on one DVD player or on multiple players?
I ran into the same problem with our Toshiba player with one disk, but the others played the disk just fine.
<ireland wrote>

That's weird..
Make sure that you have a good ASPI layer installed.
Is it happening with one movie or a few?
