can you clean dvd's w/ isopropyl alcohol ?iv'e noticed disc cleaning solutions smell mostly of alcohol.looking for cheap/easy cleaner to use w/ memorex cleaning machine that will not leave residue on disc or clog pads. thanks to all

jft, i tried that...after the fire department left, i tried alcohol on a disk that i didn't care much about with no ill effects that i can see. thanks for your well thought out and useful information. now i have to find a place to live until my house is rebuilt.

I read a suggestion (whisperer I think) where he cleaned the surface with dish detergent suds. I tried it on one that none of the cd cleaners could fix and it worked!! Another response said that the moisture could get under the label, so keep that in mind, but if it's scratched and you do get a copy done, at least you'll have the copy.
