I HATE spending more money than I have to!! I feel like I'm trapped in Hollywood's gougeing retail/marketing scheme! It's like having a girlfriend that costs too much money!
What is the cheapest retail/web source to buy:
New Release DVD Movies?
Non-New release & Older DVD Movies?
Any World Class Shoppers out there? Please respond. Please name souces and prices.
Thank you much

I have purchased a lot of DVDs. I don't think there is a single source you can got to. You have to shop around. I've found some DVDs cheaper at Amazon.com, some at Best Buy, some at the local rental store, etc. Also you have to factor in taxes and shipping. Some online stores don't charge taxes or shipping so you may save some money. Also you can save money by pre-ordering some titles. Believe it or not you can sometimes get good deals with Columbia House once you finish your initial commitment. Hope this helps.

i buy almost all my movies at best buy, usually in the store...if you get them the week they came out you get a good price...plus, they usually have some good preorder deals online that not only offer a good preorder price, but also a coupon good for a future purchase
i refuse to buy from anywhere that's not a large company...just too many come and go...best buy, amazon, etc...i get some from walmart and target too as they have good prices usually
columbiahouse.com is running a good deal right now...5 DVDs for $25 shipped with nothing more to buy...check out www.techbargains.com about 6 articles or so down the page for the details
i always check techbargains.com for deals on anything related to electronics, DVDs, etc...also, www.dvdpricesearch.com is an AWESOME tool for finding prices

Thanx for the imput...anyone else? Frugal (strike-that!) CHEAP, penny pinching bast**ds like me will sell their sisters for a better deal. Winner of the best-price lead gets an expence paid trip to the landfill of their choice (joke) :-)
Thanks again

Sams Club and Costco seem to give really good prices for initial releases.. Usually a few cents below online prices and no P&P or Delivery charges but of course you have to pay tax... Still seems to work out cheaper buying from them when all charges are taken into account.
Also they can be good for older releases that are budget priced.. but again,. stock etc dependant on store in question and don't forget there is the tax / P&P to take into account.
Cheers..

I also get mine mostly at Best Buy and like LD said the first week there out there usually sold at a pretty good deal. If i remember correctly when Signs came out I picked it up for 15 bucks at Best Buy a week later the price was increased a couple dollars.

I use this site to get the lowest web prices. Sometimes, however, local competition makes the Brick and mortar stores the best bet for high profile releases.
I buy tons of stuff from:
http://www.digitaleyesdvd.com. They have good prices, ship quickly, shipping can be free and they send out email coupons to use quite frequently. I also buy used DVD's when possible. A whole lot cheaper and guaranteed to play. Another good source for used DVD's is secondspin.com.
Also uln.com and smeetch.com have good DVD prices but their shipping charges aren't the best.

Someone mentioned pre-used DVDs at Blockbuster. I have been able to buy some DVDs from Blockbuster for as low as $7.
One warning about the Blockbuster DVDs...be sure to confirm that the center 'hub' hole is not cracked or damaged. The repeated use of the DVD case/DVD by customers causes cracks in this area. Just a heads up....

yes and also, blockbuster puts a center-ring indelible label as well as main dvd label on their dvd's that render them junk from a resale standpoint
plus they put them in their own blockbuster brand cr@p dvd cases vs regular dvd cases.
so, buying them is fine as long as you plan on being the last, end owner. me, I'd rather go w/secondspin.com

personally i will never give a penny more to blockbuster...hollywood video is by far a better company for both rental and purchasing...IMHO

All those are good suggestions, but if you want a good price on some harder to find DVDs, try http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com

The Blockbuster DVDs I have bought had no label whats so ever. Just over the counter used DVD. No 'blockbuster' label or anything.

Boy! ...overwhelming responses...thank you so much. Glass: Your website suggestion looked good but they require cookies turned on just to enter their home page which is a real bad start if they want my money. I've got a firewall setup that rivals the emperor's personal guard so I'll check that one out from my work. I don't care if a website plants code on that piece of crap computer. Thanks again to all.
