i don't know about the rest of you, but i was burned by the liars at dvd-x-copy regarding the "always available" activation of the software, and, except for microsoft's monopoly on os, i will never trust any company using activation, nor will i ever buy software which requires activation again...besides, XXXXXXX and XXXXXXXXX work every time, are cheaper, and will work forever without worring about activation.

I am using DVDneXtCopy V1.0.1.
When attempting to make a backup DVD, I see "Using Package Mode - No Preview" in the preview window instead of scenes from the DVD, and I do not get the option to burn a backup DVD when the read process completes.
What does "Using Package Mode - No Preview" mean and how can I burn a backup of this DVD?

per Tony...

"Throughout the conversion cycle the software will sometimes speed up or slow down when this happens that message is displayed in the status window. It is normal operation."

How can "Using Package Mode - No Preview" in the preview window, instead of scenes from the DVD, be "normal operation" if I do not get the option to burn a backup DVD when the read process completes? If "Using Package Mode - No Preview" is NOT constantly in the preview window and scenes from the DVD are, then I do get the option to burn a backup DVD when the read process completes.

Reported this "Using Package Mode - No Preview" problem to DVDneXtCOPY 03/17/06 and was told "We found a bug in the preview function. We are working on it and it will be fixed in the next version that will be released 2 weeks from now." Asked for status on 04/10/06 and was told "Sorry, please check back in 2-3 weeks time."

I downloaded the latest version of the program last night and took it home to test to see how it worked.

Here are my findings for Version 1.0.3: -

Using the Dual-Layer 8.5GB output setting as well as the Default (normal) quality setting, I tried to copy a DVD-9 disc to the C:\DVDneXtCOPY folder on my HDD.

I haven't tried/didn't try to copy the ”movie only” onto a DVD-9 disc or even to a folder. I don't know if that would work in DVD-9 mode as I don't think the program would know where to put the Layer Break if I try to copy just the movie and nothing else to a DVD-9 disc/folder on the HDD.

The end result of using the Dual-Layer setting: -

STILL no FF/RW capability via PowerDVD/Nero Showtime/Windows Media Player 10. The screen freezes after I try to FF/RW past the 2 times speed.

Also noticed that the preview function STILL does not work on the dual layer burn. It comes on automatically in the 4.7GB mode.

However, using the Single-Layer 4.7GB output setting as well as the Default (normal) quality setting, I tried to copy a DVD-9 (movie-only) and a complete DVD-5 disc to the C:\DVDneXtCOPY folder on my HDD.

The end result of using the Single-Layer 4.7GB setting: -

The FF/RW capability via PowerDVD actually works all the way up to the maximum 32 times speed in that program.

Also noticed that the preview function comes on automatically in the 4.7GB mode.

Anyone else care to share their findings?

per dvdnextcopy

This is a list of programs that will or can cause issues when using next copy.

Check to see if you have any conflicting programs. This is a list of software that can possibly interfere in the burning process:

InterActual Player
PC Friendly Player
Nero INCD
Hp-DLA
Direct CD
NewDotNet domains
Gator
OfferCompanion

Also, DVD copying software can sometimes conflict with the software:

Clone dvd
DVD Cloner
Nero 6 or 7
Roxio 6,7,8,
Shrink
Decrypter
DVDFab Decrypter
DVDFab Platinum
1 Click DVD copy
DVD Wizard Pro
ICopyDVDs2
DVD95Copy
DVD to DVD Copy
Xcopy9
123CopyDVD

If you have any of those installed, you should consider disabling or uninstalling those and reinstall our software and try our software again.

Hi all

Further to my comments from 20/04/2006:-

I have uninstalled the program recently and have asked them for a refund.

Will post back to let you all know how the refund process goes.

It took a couple of days (I asked for mine just before the start of the weekend), but it did come.

I tto, while wait till all ther MAJOR bugs are worked out. All I wanted to be able to do was FF at more than 2X, just like the software this replaced

I am using another combination of programs and am quite happy with them except they seem to constantly be updating them ;-)

It appears that DVDneXtCOPY V1.0.3.3 fixed my "Using Package Mode - No Preview" problem. See 12 Apr 2006 4:45 PM.

Ireland...thanks for your help... Installed XP and dvd-next-copy works pretty good. What do you guys recommend using for old school guys who used dvdxcopy (first release) to combine one movie that was burned over two seperate disk?
