Yea, I guess all anyone should limit the discussion to is how cheap they can buy something... Geez, it really bugs you that intelligent conversation can be had about something other than being cheap, doesn't it? Get off it.

"can get a 100 pack dvd-r grade a for 49 bucks "

You get what you pay for. Make sure what you're getting is of good quality or you'll be paying for a lot of frisbees.

If you'll look at the bottom of the previous page, you'll see what I just found. The link is in this forum in the thread called "Library of ... Links, etc." ;-) After I updated my firmware, it works fine.

They don't specify what these are: ie- spindles, printables, speed, etc. but nonetheless, the pricing is far below wholesale, so I'd be a bit leary.

This week at Office Max: 100 Arita DVD+R (probably no spindle) for $59.99-$20 mail-in rebate. Substitute is 4 spindles of Imation 25-pack OR 2 spindles of Maxell 50-pack (only if Imation is out-of-stock), either for $59.99 total and you can still send in for the $20 OMX rebate. I scanned the substitution policy (which also shows the Khypermedia 8x DVD burner) and I'm sharing it thru KaZaa (I use KaZaaLite) as "OMX Rebate Substitute Feb1,04.jpg". You have to get the rebate form in the store - it's not in the rebate booklet that they hand out.

I got a great deal at CompUsa this weekend, you may still be able to get it. they had a 10 pack of their own DVD+R or -R disks for 7.99.

P.S. when I went up to pay for them they rang up for 4.99, so I bought 100!

I'm looking at a couple of other types of media, price reasons. Anyone tried using the optodisc or supermedia dvd-r's. I've found them 50 for 32-33 bucks. I use ritek right now, but can't find them at that price anywhere. From compatibility tables, they are compatible with my dvd writer, just unsure about my set top player, which is a Sanyo. I wouldn't think there would be a problem, it's played everything I've thrown at it so far, like Imation, Kyphermedia, Ritek, and Verbatim. Thanks for any comments!

I have some Optodiscs, and they work fine. I've collected as many different brands (often from the same mfr.) as I can when they're on sale, and my players have read them all. I've only found one player (a friend's TV/DVD combo) that won't read the printable Optodiscs, but his other player does. All the other brands I've tried were 100% compatible with any player I tested, which includes at least a dozen.

I sadly report a completely disasterous batch of Optodisk DVD media. It is true that quality must vary. All 100 had poor performance at towards the end of recordings. This caused me to throw each of them away as I tried yet another. It was not just one or one in ten or one in five but all! I will no longer purchase Optodisk as it has cost me $100. Even at half that cost it would have been tragic not to mention the huge waste of time!!

First off, you should have returned the package, even if a few were missing, for refund. I don't know of any media vendor who doesn't warranty discs. If they don't then I wouldn't buy them at ANY price.

Second, while I only buy Verbatim, I don't believe Optodisk is a manufacturer, so the important issue is not the name on the wrapper, but who actually made those dics.
