Making an MPEG 2 file in X Show

I once read where it was possible to rename the extension of an exported X-Show file to .MPG to make it playable in Windows media player.

I tried this and was able to get the video but no audio to play in Windows media player.

Does anyone know how to sucessfully make a MPG 2 file this way?
