spacedout, are you sure about all of this info??? wow... s4t = leda??? LOL :) no wonder they didnt replied when I wrote to them bitching them out about the leda they sold me :)
but why if they are leda, would they have another batch that says blanks made by shop4 tech.
Can anyone explain whey the 100pack of ritek I got the first time,ALL had a clear coat label with www.shop4tech.com in the inner rim??? man doesn't that just takes time and adds up to the price tag??
Ok, here's my info on Leda 4x -R
hmmm funny, DVD Plus Identifier.exe & Nero Disc info come out blank with the Leda media, NOTHING, not even a funky code or anything, all fields are blank.. :( so is leda made by leda? :)
One thing I just saw also, even Sony media is Made by Ricoh, man, you guys are the best...

Hey Security, when I put that code in I get this:
44777183 BUY 1 MEMOREX CDR 50PK, GET 1F
Offer is valid through 09/27/2003
Also their stock of Memorex is low on all media (CD & DVD) because, according to a store employee here, they are discontinuing Memorex. Don't know if that's true or not. Has anyone been able to order from the website? Every time I try I get a message stating the +R is out of stock.

You can always backorder the DVDs, but the coupon code only appears to apply to CDs, not DVDs.
Oh well.

I purchased a 5 pack of 1x Comp-USA DVD-RWs a couple of weeks ago; on sale for $7.99 at the time. Two of the 5 do NOT work for me (I use a Sony DRU-510a, latest FW). Xcopy doesn't acknowledge they exist. Nero hangs when I launch the erase option. I have to literally eject the discs to recover Nero.
The other three work perfectly in Nero & Xcopy.
Interesting; for all five of the discs, 'DVD Plus Identifier' reports 'Not Available' in all fields (in the bottom window of 'Identifier' it reports "Unsupported disc").
Let me know if there is a more appropriate forum to post this type of information. My thinking is; what good is cheap media if it doesn't work for you. So hopefully my experience is helpful for others (the experience of others has certainly helped me ... even when it's indirect information ... one can extrapolate to their environment). And, as always, other's results can be different, depending upon many factors.

I'm finding 4x media to be far more reliable than 1x and 2x. I got a good deal in the lurch on a 10 pack of 4x KHypermedia DVD+R at Office Max for $11 after rebates. I'm using a 50-pack of Memorex 4x +R now and they're working great. (Verbatim has concurred that the 44 2x I sent them have problems and they're sending me a 50-pack of 4x printables to replace them.)

nickicap1,
I've had tons of problems with Verbatim 4x +R DVDs manufacutured by MCC (the 4x +R Ricohs from Verbatim work perfectly). What phone number did you call to contact Verbatim? (I realize I can research this to get the number, but others may also have similar problems and, if you don't mind and since you've already got the number, please post it to save everyone else the trouble). Thanks very much!
I had a chance to look at my info on the Leda +RW disks with with DvdInfoPro and Tha187um is right, it shows nothing on them. I know the program works because my Memorex shows made by Ricoh. I do certainly believe that Leda is made by themselves, probably another reason they can sell them so cheap.

Hi serious,
I'm glad you found your disks. :) As I just recently mentioned, The Leda's don't register any information with Dvdinfopro on my DVD Rom and my burner say's that the manufacturer can not be read. The Leda's all work fine. However the batch of optodisc do list the manufacturer as OPTODISCOP1. I wonder if you didn't get Optodisc instead of Leda. As I mentiond in the past, of the Optodisc I recieved in the past I had 17 flawed out of 25. They replaced them with Leda's. Note though that the 8 optodiscs that were not flawed with interior spots worked just fine. I would imagine that if they are not flawed they will probably work fine just the same.

Verbatim's tech support number is 800-538-8589. That's who you call both to discuss and get instruciton to return defective media, and then to follow on a return.
How are you identifying Verbatim branded media from different sources?

nickicap1,
I used 'dvd plus identifier' and, of the four Verbatim 4x DVD+R 15-packs that I bought at Office Depot, two spindles were MCC and two were Ricoh. The spindle package with the black base are MCC. The spindle package with the gray base are Ricoh.

serious and nickicap1,
Thanks for posting the Verbatim phone number and the url for dvdinfopro. I'll let you know how it works out for me.
I exchanged the two defective CompUSA DVD-RWs today. They were kind enough to open up a new pack and switch two of the new for my two defective ones. The two new ones tested fine in my burner.

CompUSA has the FMI 10 pack DVD-R 1x for $7.99 (#289893). I've used these with no problems.
